this is done in 5 sections. The centre section over the brake light wire cover, then a small strip for the next section outside of that, that goes all the way to the front along the tank. Then two side pieces for the tunnel sides. I unbolt the back bar, take off the seat, i unbolt the back of the running boards so that i can pull it away and slide the film behind it with the backing paper still on. Best advice is to have an extra set of hands to help you hold the film while you heat it up and push it around and mold it into place. If you want to remove the brake light too, that would help you out too. I probably will do that on my next one. Dont over heat the material because you can burn it, play with a scrap piece for a bit to learn what you can and cant do with the film.

I think it looks good but I think once you get it out in the woods it will show every scuff from boots, trees and anything that touches it.

Nice work man, we have been playing around with doing the same thing.. Powdercoat your boards black, maybe your rails as well and you have the storm trooper look down!

Personally i cant stand the aluminum finish.. Ski Doo & Cat have both got theirs painted to match their sleds, still waiting on Polaris too..

The mechanics were talking about that yesterday too after i showed them the sled. I think what i am going to do this morning is put a layer of 3M paint protection film on top, in the high traffic areas where boots would impact it. That should keep it clean.

Camo

Love the white.

The flip side is your buddies will never find you though.....better wear a blaze orange helmet/jacket.

Was looking at the same thing for my sled. Was it hard getting the vinyl to conform to the ovals on the top of the sides? Heat gun or hair dryer?

3m 1080 scotchprint is very easy to work with. I use a heat gun not a hair dryer. heated up to proper temp it pushes right into the ovals, cools, and sets.

Looks great! I'm waiting for my carbon paper to show up to do the same. I did it 2 years ago to my daughters sled and it has held up great.

so here it is with the new skis and also some 3m PPF film i added to the tunnel where your boots will rub quite a bit.

Looks good but I would have taken the tunnel reinforcments off instead of wrapping over them and put them back on afterwards. Would have added some much needed flow. Looks good though. Thanks for sharing
