2013 Pro RMK Seat Question

I ordered a 2013 seat for my 2012, but I liked the black post from the 2012, so I used that one instead of the raw aluminum one that came with the 2013 seat.

Sxrlar,

Since you have both, could you put them side by side and shoot a pic so we can tell if the height did or did not change. Also would you be willing to sell the raw '13 seat bracket? Thanks

The 13 seat needs the 13 bracket on either an 11 or 12 IF you want the same stock seat height. The 13 seat WILL fit on an 11 or 12 seat bracket. It IS 1-1/4'' lower as stated in a prior post. I know this. I have both. For me, the 13 seat with the stock 11 bracket is the best of both worlds. A shorter seat that is a little lower in the back so my sawed off little legs can throw over better. Some may not like or need this so then the wonderful thing about this is you can either washer it as stated in an earlier post or buck up and buy the 13 bracket. I hope this helps.

How is the '13 seat while seated? I know that's not a big priority for you Western guys, but I sit down about 2/3 of the time roughly doing more long distance back country riding here in Maine. Although I found I liked the original RMK seat better than the Switchback seat as the extra height makes me more comfortable at 6'3". The '13 seat looks like a nicer, flat surface, but if it is a lot lower that concerns me for making the transition to standing more difficult in rough terrain.

I believe the 13 seat is the same height as the 11-12. Shorter in length was my understanding maybe I am wrong. I can't tell a difference but I sit very little.

I didn't like the way the '12 bracket bent the '13 seat, so I made a '13 height bracket because I needed one for my trip. Turned out OK, but '13 bracket came in just before trip, so I swapped it out.

It just came to me. On my '12, I snow checked the "switchback" comfy seat, cause I didn't like how narrow the RMK seat was. This may have resulted in a different seat post than the standard PRO RMK seat post. I'll have to look at PNs...just looked. I have an '11 SBA and a '12 RMK Assault. The seat post for the SBA is round and is wider spaced vs the RMK post with SBA seat. It is square tube that is bent. Not the same post as SBA. I don't know what post they used for the switchback snow check seat option. Regardless, the post didn't work well(at all) with my '13 seat.

Just to confirm, I ordered a '13 600 RMK seat for my '12 Assault. The part number is: 2685259. Love the look. Dealer had to call polaris to get part number.

Thanks Fastmnstealth!

I called my dealer and this part number seems to work. They were not getting anywhere on this before, telling me it was a snow check special requiring a VIN number for them to find it. :face-icon-small-dis

Many Thanks!

I have a 12 800 Pro with the snow check side panels, and I thought the seat matched perfectly and this 13 seat I have been tryint to track down looks identical. Can't wait til I get it!

I just went into the dealer and asked for the seat with the red on it. They took the black one they had in the store and switched it out off one of their sleds for sale.

Nice dealer!

On my 11, it fit perfect. The bracket must be the same height in 11,13. The 12 is the different one. No 1-1/4" drop on the 11.

I just finished putting on a 13 pro rmk 600 seat on my 12 assault rmk.

Here is a picture of my 2013 seat, with the 2012 bracket, unbolted from the tunnel. It sits above the tunnel 3/8ths of an inch. You hardly even have to push down on it to bolt it down.

That is absolutely nothing like mine is. Not sure what is going on but mine had exactly 1 1/4" of space between the 2013 seat and the bracket.

I am calling BS, I would like to see the entire seat and measurement in a pic, not just the measurement. Cause like I said above my post was 1 1/4" lower than my 13 seat. Something is not right here.

I think you are putting a lot weight on the back of the seat to get this measurement.

I think a lot of the height differences can likely be attributed to how full or empty the gas tank is / was at the time of installation. With the shape of it, guessing if close to full the back flat portion will ballon up a bit from the weight / head pressure of the fuel and cause the disparity we are seeing. This in part is why I was asking for a pic of the different years of brackets side by side. Haven't heard serious growth issues from gas soaking the plastic in the stock tanks but have read a lot of b-tching with the trail tanks.

Why the fiuck would I put a lot of weight on the seat? I was just trying to add to the thread with what I have. Here is a picture of the seat, and of the post that came with the seat, right behind the 2012 post. Don't know what else to tell/show you.

Relax, that 12 post is longer than my stock 12 post. Strange.

Also your 13 seat is not bent down like Phatty's is in his picture of his seat with the 12 post. It might just look that way cause of the white on Phatty's seat.

Which version of the 13 seat is that?

13 seat, 13 bracket, polaris changes this stuff around to sell parts. I have a 08 rmk and put the 13 seat on it (love the 13 seat)
