2013 M 800 or 2014 RMK Pro 800

I'm looking at a 2013 M800 or a 2014 RMK Pro 800 both brand new at the dealer. What are your thoughts?

Personally I think you would be happier on the Pro. Obviously the 2013 Cat will have improvements over the 2012 which was plagued with issues but the Pro just works!! I had a 2014 Pro and no issues what so ever, it was a great sled, just upgraded to an Axys.

I have a 2014 Pro RMK 155". I like it. It's our fourth Pro. As a matter of fact, 8 hours from now we are trailering it 1200 miles to Idaho to go have some more trouble free fun. :face-icon-small-hap

Put a 36 inch front end on the Cat and you have a sled that carves equal or better, better motor, better track, better suspension, tougher chassis. The Poo is lighter and will shine in the deep, has the best factory boards ever made. I've owned a 11 and 15 Pro and a 12 and 16 Proclimb. Guess you have to decide what is most important to you.

I have a 11 pro and my motor / oil pump just went out and lost another motor. 2nd motor in 2000 miles. I will never by a Polaris again, unless the have Suzuki start making there motors. Polaris has had motor problems for over 20 years. fix kits for every motor they have made. the way I see it is Polaris slogan in " The way out" Arctic cat 'The way home" its up to you, they do make a great chassis but there motors suck. I have owned 7 Polaris snowmobiles and have put motors in all of them. I have owned 3 cats and have never touched them.
Im putting a Cat 900 motor in my pro chassis as we speak, the permanent fix kit

My 14 pro (actually ny buddies now) has just over 2000 miles on it and still runs like a top

some do. But Polaris is the only brand that has had a fix kit for there sleds since 1997 and most of these kits don't completely fix the problem. extremely Sad if you ask me.

Thanks for all the input. I went back and forth for a few days and decided that the cat was the better option for me. With the money I saved I can do a few things to the cat and not have to worry about engine reliability. Put 20 miles on it yesterday and really like it so far. Feels like a toy compared to the 1100 turbo I just sold.

Probably the smart choice. I loved my 13 and 14 Pro's, never kept one more than a season (~1200 miles). I love my Axys but the motor problems STILL exist. 4th ride on its second season and the 1200 mile motor is toast. My buddy was ready to buy a Polaris until this happened. Can't blame him a bit for going with a '16 M8000 over the Axys. I rode one of his 2010 Cats yesterday. Had a great ride, made it home still running on both cylinders!

I've personally seen way more Ski-Doo motor issues and tons of Cat clutch issues than Poo issues. Also all the rental shops, around where I ride, rent Doo and Poo. I've got a '12 Pro still running strong. I did put Wiseco pistons in last season, but I'd do that with any high performance mountain sled with 3k miles. My dad's '13 Pro has about 8k miles on it. The Poo engine issues are way over hyped.

On the trail the pro motor holds up but here in the Northwest in the Rockies they blow UP.
To be fair the pro motors are better than the dragons. Since the mid 90s thru 2015 polaris is the only brand that has had to have a fix kits, big bearing kit, piston fix kit and crankshaft fix kit.
Another reason I have quite polaris for good is they are the ones that are primarily responsible for driving prices up on these sleds. It started in 03 with the vertical escape and they have been driving prices up since then. I think that if I pay 12000.00 plus for a sled I should get 2-3 miles then do a top end and be good. Instead I have 1950 miles on my pro and I just lost the second motor. I think they make a great chassis and I think they have great idea's but 20 plus years with motor problems can not be over looked.
