2013 HP

The Doo ain't no 163 HP like they claim either. More like 155. The Poo on Premium is supposed to be 148 HP. Add in the 50 more lbs. on a Doo, and it explains why the Pro kicks the Doo's rear end.

417 dry + 11.5 gal x 6.5lbs per gallon = 491.75 lbs

not including oil, plus let's say 1 gallon of oil @ 8lbs per gallon is 499.75 lbs not including coolant

Whooooaa there fella......lets not get crazy and use simple math and logic when it would be much better to get BS numbers that defy physics from some joker's website.

i do.king of the hill or stay in the meadows and wish you had more hp.

Really?????? Then explain how Keith Curtis can rocket up to the top of Snow King on 600 & 800 Pros in the STOCK class, with better times than most other racers dealing with such a big deficit of power.

That is some heavy oil! Oil is lighter than water and water is ~8#'s per gallon. Guessing only the New Cats Oil tank will even hold a gallon! Most are 1/2 gallon or less. Most sleds only hold 1 to 1-1/2 Gallons of coolant. So on the outside 12#'s for coolant and another say 3-1/2#'s for oil.

That said, ~507.25#'s wet.

I still see another 50+#'s to save, probably nearly $300-400 dollars / pound to reach that, but achievable, without having any of the known stock strength flaws.

Figured out the weight discrepency....the Poo owner didn't want to get off his sled and quit riding long enough to have it weighed. They weighed it with him, or her, on it. They forgot to weigh the Cat with 6 belts in the tunnel bag too. Pretty biased comparison. ;-)

Same magazine, earlier article....the rmk weighed is an electric start model, others are not.

Electric start does not add 60 pounds. I have a turbo system on mine and it was only 540

Ahh but Boston you forget...

If you chose to buy a sled with electric start in the year 2012 you must be carrying at least 60lbs of laziness somewhere else on your body;)

This post was not meant to offend anyone who is somehow handicapped physically or so old or so young that they require electric start to enjoy our wonderful sport. Ohh and let me not leave out the lovely petite female riders, God Bless you all, all twenty three of you:)

Everyone else YOU ARE LAZY!!! Fuel injection, 3 pulls max, even after rolling it down the Mtn! Check into the wonders of modern technology!

Those wet weights are wrong and they are using last years sled for Horsepower. Very misleading, just another reason I dislike AmSnow it really is a garbage rag.

maybe hp fairy gave poo 20 more this year?

The truth about HP , The newer EPA requirements cause the motors to run much leaner and hotter than older specs. These motors are running around 1300 EGT in the mids so they will hit good HP dyno numbers on a ""short "pull however they begin a climb already hot and heat sink sooner and HP will fall which can be felt easily when on the hill. so dont get hung over the Dyno numbers they really dont mean much.the motors mapping and ability to stay cool on a long pull will determine the performance outcome.

i work with a local performance shop on my sleds engine/pipe setups....the shop has extensive dyno experience going back nearly 25 years...they dyno many sleds from stock to wide open mods and turbos of every flavor....last winter, 2012 model year sleds, they only had one polaris break 140 hp, at 141; all the rest were 138 or 139....doo's were consistent at 157-159....cats were also consistent at 160-161, but where poo and doo would lose 2-3 hp on a long dyno pull of 35-45 seconds, the cat would gain about 3, normally finishing at 163....i don't have any skin in these results, just reporting the results...poo does benefit from av gas or race fuel, usually about 4-5 hp for a 50/50 mix of either....didn't try fuel on either the doo or cat...it's unfortunate that poo has steadily reduced hp in an attempt to gain reliability, but they have had some success in doing so...argue all you want about weight, clutching etc. as all three sleds have scenarios of use that may benefit a particular rider/situation...but where a couple of grand will bring down the weight of cat or doo, it's hard to gain any longevity with the poo engine for that amount...ain't choice grand ?....:yo:
