We've decided on the 2013 600 155 for my girlfriend, she's 5' 10" 140 lbs - would you buy the pro or regular rmk? We mostly boondock and ride in McCall and Joseph areas. Thanks!

with the pro model it has all the light weight goodies, better running boards, belt drive, WE shocks and the minimalist controls. the standard has bulky controls for everything on the bars and has a bigger seat. she would love them both, just depends on how much u wana spend. dont think you can go wrong either way

Polaris belt drive is still unproven technology. The only people that both tested it and had inside knowledge to the maintenance required, were owned by Polaris.

The 13 STD RMK model has the new short seat, the new running boards. It does not have the WE shocks,PRO Taper Bars, belt drive or any carbon fiber. Also a big consideration is the extra cooler and extra bogey wheels. The bars are narrower than the pro tapers, better for med to small riders. Has she ridden a PRO and been able to monitor and keep cool the engine temps? I got the STD model (2012) for my one of my daughters. Much easier for her on the trail to keep cool compared to the year before riding one of our PROs. The STD model is 435lbs and can be bought for $9700. Evaluate her skill level and what she would be happy with not what I would get myself. Maybe a few demo rides.:face-icon-small-coo

Hmm, both will be great sleds. Don't listen to all the bashing about the belt drive. I seriously doubt your girlfriend will tear one up. I would choose the Pro for her because of her height and the fact that you do alot of boondocking. I bought the regular RMK 600 for my wife because she is only 5'4" and she spends about 1/2 or more of her time on a trail.

That being said does your girlfriend boondock or do YOU? The sled I just bought for my wife is a 2012 RMK 600 ES 155 that a guy bought for his new wife who had barely ever ridden a sled before. The first thing he did was take her out in the back country and scare the crap out of her. The sled has 101 miles on it. My wife couldn't believe she wanted to sell it and they got to talking. She said never wanted to get on a sled again. Don't kill your girlfriend's interest by assuming she enjoys the steep and deep as much as you unless you know that's true.

Unless of course it is just a ploy to make her not ever want to go again so you can just go hang out with your buds. Maybe that guy was smart not stupid! Just sayin'

I faced the same issue last year. Go with the pro. It's nicer and it's really not that much more money for the goodies you get. My girlfriend at the time. Now wife had a 900. So I wanted to get something she could actually throw around so I got her the 600 and she absolutly loves it. I also had a 900 and bought myself an 800 pro. She rode mine a lot and likes her 600 better. When I watch her ride she is in more control of the 600 pro than the 800 pro. She boondocks. Side hills. Climbs and loves the 600 pro. I would go with the pro.

get the pro 600 rmk because you might end up riding it someday, lol!

If and when my gf needs a new ride, she'll just use my current 2012 pro rmk 600 and I'll buy the newest version for the pro 600.

I love that sled

I think we'll go with the pro. She is a good rider and goes almost everywhere I go. She has riden off and on the past 12 years. We really aren't on the trail much either. Thank you for all your input. And for the laughs.

PRO model for sure

I bought my wife a new 2012 600 PRO 155 last year. My reasoning was pretty simple, I wanted to get her the lightest sled possible that will help her progress her riding skills. I figured the lighter it is, the less power she will have to use to side hill and boondock. Which means she will have better endurance throughout the day by using the lighter sled. Which hopefully, if I'm lucky, she has just enough endurance to last in the bedroom. hahaha. Go with the PRO!!

Oh yeah, my wife is 5'7" and 115 and can handle the pro with ease.

We went with the 12' 600 155" Standard because it fit my wife better at 5'4". I also was really concerned with her keeping the pro cool. She won't throttle it as much and as a result there is less spray for cooling. We picked up the WE take offs from a pro for $600.00 so the suspension is fine for her. Plus for $7800.00 last March you can't go wrong.
