2012 vs 2013

So it's a little early to be looking ahead to the 13's, however, I believe a choice is creeping up on me.

I currently ride a 2011 switchback assault, 144" with 2" powder track. I am somewhat new to riding, so I bought this sled not knowing exactly what kind of riding I would be doing. So now that I know that I ride in the deep deep stuff in the trees, this 50/50 sled is not cutting it. Ski stance width, running boards, floatation, etc...

SO, my options are;

1. Pick up a left over 2012 pro 155"

2. Wait to snow check a 2013 pro 155".

My hesitation is the changes on the 13's. We know they will be 417 lbs. So that almost promises a belt drive, correct? Where else would you save 14 lbs, if there isn't a structural change to the chassis?

What do you guys think?

Does anybody plan on going from 12's to 13's?

Wait and see what comes out first. Bottom line tho, it'll come down to how much money you're willing to spend. If 12 & 13 are the same, buy a 12. If they're different, how much is the upgrade worth to you. If money isn't an issue then snowcheck a 13. That's my .02

And to answer your question, I'll be keeping my 12 regardless of what comes out.

Depending on what comes out I will most likely be selling my 11 and moving to a 13 assualt

Who knows what changes are coming or what models those changes will affect??

Will it be just on PRO RMK's.. or will it affect std rmk's and SB/Rush???

We'll have to wait till March to find that out.

ANYTHING till then will simply be speculation.

i would be hesitant to buy a 13 with the belt drive, i'm thinking it will have 1st year issues. i can see guys blowing that belt often. i hope i'm wrong, but its hard to look past all the issues that 1st year sleds or 1st year upgrades have. the new cats, the 1st year etec, first year xp, etc. i swear the mfgs don't do much testing, they leave it up to us to do it for them.

I"m planning on getting a 2013, but if price goes up and due to low snow I think there will be a lot of holdover 2012 - I've seen some new pros priced at $10,000 already, so if no big changes and $12000 for a 2013, I may buy a holdover 2012. My 2011 is still awesome. Love it every ride!

Lots of carry over means late model iron is the same a herpes, you can't get rid if it!

Trade prices just went up, not down.

I could not agree more on the manufactures leaving it up to us for their testing.
Microsoft, and Apple are a perfect example. :face-icon-small-fro
