2012 SB Assault Spindles - Will they Anodize?

Looking to see if anybody knows how the spindles will take to anodizing on a 2012 Switchback Assault, looking to have them anodized black.......

Yes they will anodize, BUT they will look pretty poor, castings just do not take to anodizing well at all, flat blochy color at best. I would get the holz billet spindels and anodize them, be sure to polish to a mirror finish first tho,

I had a set of rails done last year and they turned out great, getting my rails done again this year and thought I might have the spindles done as well.

Thanks - that was what I was trying to avoid, my rails came out great last year . . . the cast idler carriers were all blotchy.

yeah gotta go powder on the cast parts. the new tinted clears look pretty nice, close to anodizing.

I call BS, normally cast parts are a 4 series aluminum, the high silicon content makes them flow well into the mold, but it will leave the anodizing looking blotchy.

The spindles on this sled won't be a 4 series aluminum as that alloy isn't suited for use in structural pieces. The alloy used is more than likely a 7000 series, which does anodize well. I will upload some pics of the set I just had done, they turned out with a dull black finish, but I expected that as I requested the anodizing be hard coat rather than bright dip (for durability purposes).

Powder on these spindles is a pain in A, as the lower heim joint doesn't leave a lot of room for much powder thickness. And you're left with grinding off power in a rather half A fashion to make the parts fit.

I'm pretty sure they are extruded not cast on the PROS... same as the HRP spindles previously...

Extrusions generally take to ANO very well...The HRP spindles hold up amazingly well!!

I recommend TYPE III hard ano over anything else.. it will hold up better than any other coating.

Now my wheels are turning, I would prefer anodizing . . . but don't want to spend the $$ and waste the time if they come back blotchy and purple looking!

If they are extruded aluminium they will anodize perfect....no bs, sorry never figured they were extruded.

Thanks actually..did not know that...O do a lot of billet anodizing for drag boats I build..all this stuff I carved from 6061, purple anodize, the blacks hardcoat

they anodize great, I asked for matte black to match the a-arms, they came super flat black which was fine, must have been because of the cast like finish the spindles have instead of smooth. I bet if you just go regular black anodizing, they will match pretty good.
