2012 Pro 800 what are the Issues with them?

I am looking at a 2012 Pro 800 with 1100 miles on it. What should I be worried about? no warranty on the sled. Any way tho know if it has the piston/ring issue I have read about? Is that about the only problem with these sleds? I am a Cat guy who may try a Poo!!

2012 pro

Mine has 1050 miles on it change out the factory pistons to the MTNTK kit 300 miles ago. No other issues what so ever. First belt just pulled strings at 1050 miles. Added at TKI belt drive this year also really happy with how it is working this year.

#1 Absolutely check the oiler screw (there's a thread on it already)
If it's not turned up already, 2.5 to 3 full turns gets you to around 40:1. If you do turn it up check your oil usage closely and do the math for the ratio.

#2 At 1100 miles you're approaching a top end in another 500-700 miles. You may want to do all that now for peace of mind

#3 Consider a quality clutch kit. I had mine done last year. Improved low to mid range torque and smooth backshift.

#4 Consider adding reinforcements to the tunnel around the footwells. If you mainly boondock/tree ride and explore you probably don't need this but if you like to go big on jumps and drops you WILL eventually crumple your tunnel. Contact AKSNOWRIDER for info. He builds a great kit for the Pro.

If you've got the jingle burning a hole in your pocket consider a long rod conversion. I just had mine done but I'm keeping my 12 for at least 5 more years.

And if you decide to leave it as is, it's still a great sled. Keep it clean and serviced and go ride.

They could use aftermarket for Polaris Burandt running board swap also.

I agree!!!

Also, if the clutch hasn't been gone through in the last couple hundred miles, I'd look into that. I broke a primary spring at 500 miles.

Other than regular maintenance, it's been the best sled I've ever owned.

Cool thanks for the info! The sled already has the burandt boards put on it so that was a nice addition already done. Anyone have a quick link to the oiler thread? Are they drinking oil or lacking oil?
