I would like to here anybodys comparisons between the 2012 an 2013 peak tracks. I talked to the rep, was told they softed up the outer, lets say 3/4" to 7/8s " of the 2013. He told me they new the 2012 was trenching. I've heard that after maybe 800 miles the 2012 was better, softed up a little, but I want to here about the 2013 peak. Thks

Don't think anyone is using the new 2013 version.

In TracksUSA's "Track Pricing" section, they have the 2012 "harder" compound part numbers and have added the 2013 "softer" compound part numbers. They haven't updated the regular "Peak 2.5" section with the new part numbers yet.

I have used both. I had a 2012 assault with the original stiffer peak and put about 2000 miles on it and really liked it. It did lack in deep soft snow compared to the 5.1, but if the snow had some density it would really hook up well but did trench in soft snow. I have a 2013 pro 800 155" with the new soft peak on it with 1500 miles and Love it. The inside paddles are actually a little softer than the 5.1 but maintains its original form and does not stay layed over. The durability is incredible compared to the stiffer version and the 5.1 IMO. I've hit a lot of stuff with not even a scratch. It does set better on a side hill than the 5.1 and does not wash out as bad. It is extremely well in tight spots in the trees, really gets you up and going, but you don't want to be behind it. In deep snow the 5.1 and the soft peak are very comparable. It does trench a little deeper but is also moving much more snow. Maybe less track speed and more actual speed if that makes sense. To put it simply, if you only ride deep snow powder days it may not benefit you. If you ride as long as there is snow on the ground you will probably really like it. This is all my opinion and have four other riding buddies that have since purchased it. It is a little heavier but you can shed 2.6 lbs by taking out every other track clip on a 155" since it is fully clipped. Hope this helps you. I would be happy to answer any questions if you have more. Thanks
