i recently put in a BMP head 1.5 degree timing key pipe and can. i tried with the map they sent me with the power commander and i have added 10 parts fuel over there map now and im still hitting the det sensor. any ideas?

Detonation issues

With more compression and timing you will have to run more octane either race gas,av gas or octane booster added. Remember this engine has a det sensor because sometimes it is needed in stock form with the varying levels of octane in pump gas.I have been where you are at with aftemarket head and pipe, tried adding fuel with PC5 and ended up mixing some race gas to eliminate detonstion. I live about 250 miles south of you. Hope this helps. This motor already has alot of timing also you could remove the timing key.

A guy I went riding with friday had his sled doing the same thing. He found a wire rubing .

The only reason a got all this stuff is because I am suppose to be able to run it with pump gas. But thanks for the help guys!

what compression ratio is your head? did you go 13:1 or 13.5:1 not sure what your elevation is but if you are less than 2500' i would be you need a gal-2gal of either av or race fuel with the 13:1 head

basically you did a bmp stage 3 kit? did you remove shelf in airbox? i was told to take it out but... there are various opinions

Yes, What weights and springs? Odds are very good you are just hitting the rev limiter and setting off the det. I just went through this the past couple of days with my sled. I added a PA head. Long story short is I couldnt believe how much weight I had to throw at it. And once I did, I quit hitting the det and you had better hold on. Btw, the det was not at wot on the top end. It was more so from a standing start or worse yet, rolling at 5-10 mph then pin it. About 5 sled lengths out at 6-7k on the tach it would go into det and limp mode. If that sounds familar at all, add some weight and a lighter engagement on the primary spring. I was running an slp green/pink and switched to a blue/pink. I'm running 68mtx weights with 3 gram rivets in both the belly and the tips. Still pulls 8300 rpm! Secondary is a 60/40 helix with the stock spring. Hope this helps you.

I hate to post something so obvious, and please don't take this in a negative way, but what did BMP say? It seems to me that they are going to be the one that have the correct answer for your issue.
