2012 600 Pro RMK newbie questions

Just bought this sled and came from riding ski doo's for 12 years. I have some simple general questions:

Motor Break-in, do I have to do anything different then I normally do? Pre-mix first tank? what ratio?

If I bought this in MN will it have low elevation clutch weights? is there a chart somewhere for what weights I need to change to for high elevation? should I run polaris wieghts or aftermarket?

Can I immediately run Klotz synthetic oil, or should I only run polaris oil?

What tools do I need to change primary clutch weights? puller, holder. P85 is completely new to me.

Should I only run polaris belts? or is the carlisle belts ok?

thanks guys, its been a while since I've touched a polaris. I know most of these questions would be good for the dealer but sometimes I don't trust the word from the salesman if you know what I mean

The dealer should have added a little oil to the tank when you bought it. No need for any after that. There is an ethanol/non ethanol plug under the clutch side access panel (yellow plug). It should be on the ethanol side for the first couple hours riding even if you are running non ethanol fuel (recommended if you can get it). Switch it to non ethanol if you have that fuel (more power). I always run Redline oil. Anyway, you can run Klotz right away if you want to. Belly Buster weights work well. I would use the top of the line Polaris belt. Great durability. You don't need to remove the primary to change the weights.

hey thanks!

thanks for that tip on the non-ethonal, ethonal switch.

Alright, I will run the OEM polaris belt.

Really, don't have to remove the primary to change weights! WOW, I am already liking polaris

Your dealer should have given you a sheet with clutching info on it. If he didn't they can print one for you. The sleds come from the factory clutched for 6-8000 ft.

you can change weights with clutch on but you have to compress the spring with a pry bar and wedge something in there to hold it open.

I haven't actually picked it up yet, put a down payment via credit card. When I return home for my R&R I am picking it up. I will make sure to get that sheet from them.

Also, I noticed Dennis Kirk sells a drive clutch compression tool its 20.99 part # 28-2099. I will have that waiting for me when I get home.

wow am I excited, is there anything else I should get or ask while at dealer?

Seems to be for Arctic Cat clutches, the tool you reference, but looks like the same in principle.

You really don't need a special tool to change the weights. Just put a pry bar down on the inside of the piece that holds the weights and pry in towards the engine. Then jam a regular 3/8" socket extension in between one of the weights and it's roller and release your pry bar. Then rotate until you have easy access to the one of the weights and change it. Then just repeat the process for the other weights. The weight/elevation chart should be in your book or supplement to the book.

The dealer should have the oil tank full of Polaris blue oil. (Synthetic blend, helps it break in properly as apparently the full synthetics make everything too slick and the rings may not seat properly) Once all that is nearly used up you can switch to whatever oil you usually use.

My dealer also had my first tank of fuel premixed 50:1 with the Blue. Mine was the 800 though, so you can ask your dealer when you go to pick it up what he recommends for the 6.

yeah that tool is also for the p-85. im sure i could use a pry bar but the tool is cheap and i have 2 other friends with polaris that could benefit from it.

i just talked to the dealer, they do premix the first tank. he said klotz syn oil will not void warranty. he is going to install the 0-3000 ele weights for me for free and give me the high elevation weights at cost.

i also had him get a cover and a spare belt ready for me.

already have plans for summer:
gas caddy slp
storage bag, sled solutions
rail stiffners, slp
carls cycle clutch kit
vent kit
koso egt/rpm/water temp gauge with fast response sensors

the old rev 800 is now on the back burner
