2011 Pro vs. 2012 Pro

Okay, I have the choice between these 2 sleds. Need some help with this one.

2011 Pro 163" (Dealers Demo Sled with 800 miles) Comes with hand guards, gas rack, under seat bag, tunnel bag with shovel, bar bag, "grippy seat," the extra bogie wheels like the RMK standard has, the upgraded hyfax that is supposed to last longer, and spare belt. 2 year warranty.

Vs.

2012 Pro 163" brand new, with 2 year warranty.
For $1300 more.

Any opinions?

Edit: I should add, money is a factor. If I could afford it easily I would be all over the 2012 no question. The 2011 is more in my price range though and since it had the extras and the same warranty, I figured it would be worth considering.

For $1300 more. for sure! Then you will know who put the on
first 800 miles!!

Good point. I know who rode the demo like 80% of the time. It was a shop employee. I'd say he rides hard but doesn't trash things. He'd ride it like I would ride it. Hmmm..

Would he warm it up properly or watch engine temps while riding? Prob not like you would.

Again, a good point. I can't say for sure. I have ridden with him before (never when he was on the Pro, but before on the demo Dragon) and he did warm it up real good. He is a mechanic, so he knows what he's doing. If I had to bet I would say he treats it like his own, but you'll never know what could have happened when it wasn't him riding it. :face-icon-small-sho

I'd say if those extras on the 2011 are something you want go for it, the sleds really aren't that different.

However, I don't know crap about engines, so I don't know if 800 miles is equal to the $1300 off.

Go with the 2011 and get the goodies. I depreciate a sled a buck a mile so your up $500 and you get the extras. Sleds are about the same except color and some wiring reroutes that may have been done on the 2011.

I traded in my 11 pro with 600 miles plus $2,000 for a 12 pro. While both sleds are very similar there are several subtle improvements on the 12. I would go for the 12 so you can break it in and treat it right, if not offer $2,500 less for the 11.

Save some money for gas ans diesel, and get the goodies, in the long run that is fuel money too.
Besides ride it like you stole it and use the warranty before it is done.

Thanks guys, some good info so far. Keep it coming.

The subtle improvements being injectors, running boards, and wire routing? Anything I'm missing?

How do you feel it runs compared to the 11? I've read on here a few people saying they thought the 12 had a bit more snap to it.

i know injectors are different for sure but i do know that the 12 is a different motor....relatively the same but they are different. you can not put a top end off a 11 on a 12 or vise versa. cyl and case are different between the 2. im not sure if the pistons are different or not. the wiring and the works is different

If money is a factor as you say. Go for the 2011. Both sleds do the same thing. Are you sure about the $1300 extra? Does that extra $1300 add into account more sales tax? More interest on a loan? License/permit etc. And all those extras on the 2011 are worth something.
I will go out on a limb here and say that over the long run it would be more like $1800 cheaper. Taking into effect the extras on the 2011 as to opposed
to a 2012 bone stock. Whats in your wallet? :face-icon-small-con

I have had NO issues with my 2011, in fact I love it. I will get to ride a 2012 soon and see if there is any difference. I cant imagine what they would need to change from 2011. I have 700 miles on mine, and its been the most fun sled I have owned (8 XP chassis's prior to this)

I would get the 12..It's brand new and will have better resale value down the road.

Have them throw in spare belt and I would try and hussle them to extend the warranty to 3-4 years or have them throw in seat back, tunnel bag, google bag etc.

On the 12 the wire harness has way more wire loom/protection on it and is a much cleaner harness in general.

Most wire rubbing issues were fixed
Different injectors
12 has straight rails VS curved on the 11, 11 will get the nose up easier..
More traction on the outer boards

You'll love the sled either way!:face-icon-small-hap

Yep, it would be 1300 extra OTD everything accounted for. If I went with the 12 it would cost me a little extra in interest over the long run, not enough to matter though.

I'm thinking I'll drop like 8k on a down payment and finance the rest. Keep in mind this is Canada though and the 2012 will be over 14k. So 8k isn't nearly as significant of a payment as it would be down south.
