2011 PRO RMK OWNERS End Of Season Questions

2011 Pro 163 Would I buy it again, Big YES. A 2012 I don't know undecided yet, my 2011 runs super. This sled does any thing you want.
Things that i've changed : Assault front springs and no swaybar, Assault rear shock, Hyperfax with no wheels in rear susp., Camoplast Extreme 2.5, Slp Bar ends, low windshiled for the days you fly over the bars, rear bumper of 2005 900 rmk 166, Polished the tunnel.
Things that have been at the dealer for: WOT cut out, changed throttle safety switch, kill switch, inj, ecm.
The thing that pissed me off the most, is my sled caught on fire in Feb and it took two months to fix. Polaris is a litile slow in the safety/ warranty department 6 weeks to get an Ok., couldn't find the cause.Have a great dealer so I got to ride the demo lots. Now I got it back and I can't seem to be able to pull myself off it. I just want to ride it all the time, it's just that much fun. The motor matches the chassis, super strong and doesn't quit going. Very snappy throttle response. Would I recomend it well I know a few friends that think it's an awesome sled. So yes go for it.

I have never looked so forward to riding in my life. Your statement about the sled making you a better rider is spot on. It also makes you a less fatigued rider at the end of the day or weekend. This past Friday was 3' of fresh pow all day long plus 3 extra gallons. I was stoked to do it again Saturday.

Did I get stuck some, yes, did I get it out myself by stomping some snow under the track and rocking the sled......YES. This sled is never very stuck. I always carried a shovel in the Polaris shovel bag on my IQ as well as the one in my pack, now I don't. There is a lot to like.

I am not coming off outdated iron or poor setup that makes it seem that way, I came off this sled which is a sweet ride and set up well and the Pro is still a big improvement.

Mechanically I have added the carl's clutching and run only non-oxegenated fuel. Not one hickup ever. This sled just rips and I love it. Good luck with your decision. EW

I know its off topic, but I LOVE the wrap! Good work EricW

A couple friends of mine have Pros, one with 800 miles and another with 1,100 miles. The only issue I know of was one had a primary clutch break, other than that it's been gas and go. The only place my old VE UBR-900 can outrun'em is on the hardpack or very heavy snow. I decided it's time to update and sno-checked a 155 Pro for myself.

Nice Wrap! Justin does nice work...

I have owned my used 155 Pro RMK for just over a month, I have put 457 miles and 28.5 hours on it. It has a total of 1,157 miles and 71.7 hours.

For me, hi priority mods are:
1. venting (more so for the warmer, late season riding, prob not "hi pri" for winter riding)
2. better running boards (but I come from using Better Boards for the last few years...and may be spoiled, I hate snow buildup on the footwells/running boards) - for most the stock boards will prob. be a big upgrade

lo priority mods:
1. lefty (yeah, I have a hard time w/ the vertical post/bar design at times, and find I really need a lefty to keep my weight where I need it in those situations)

Beyond that, I haven't found much to complain about.
However, it is a bit rough at idle..maybe clutch balancing is in store.
The track could become more of an issue in the HARD late season snow. My last ride I had some concern going up and down some hard packed tracks.. My Camo Extremes were always great on late season/hard packed tracks. The 5.1 requires a bit more planning, or alternate route, however the 5.1 is great in the pow..which it was most likely designed/made for.

I actually love the chassis/handling.
I'm generally pretty unbiased, I have ridden Doo in the past, and most recently come off a turbo Nytro. So I'm not afraid to give a sled a chance, and I'm very happy I gave the Pro a try.

[Stock] clutching is very good. And for a note, a NEW belt can bring your RPM up by ~2-300. My orig. belt w/ 1050 miles on it was low on RPM (79-81), and had a small chunk of string missing. I got a brand new belt on it, and Rs are now 82-83 (even saw an 84).

At this point, I'd do it again.

600 miles all deep stuff....all good so far. Hasn't been back to the dealer for any issues. I did go through it and check/tape a bunch of wires, fixed the oil bubble, etc when I first got the sled. Also let the dealer do the first service because I wanted to make sure I stayed kosher with warranty. Original belt, clutching runs well right out of the box....there is likely some room for improvement if you are anal, but for average joe it is awesome. I added vents on mine because they look cool and seem to make sense....not sure if they've really helped but can't hurt

I use scratchers on any trail/road and am fairly anal about proper warmups/cool downs but I would do the same with any sled.

Love it, would buy again. One thing I noticed this year is that I go through much more gas because I don't have to take breaks nearly as often...lol. I can do stuff and go places with much more confidence than anything else I've ridden.

Thanks for your help everyone!!

Well I pulled the trigger and Snowchecked a Pro RMK 163 in black today.

After what I've seen and tried on this sled, your endorsements made it a lot easier to hand over the $.

I hope my sled is built on a Wednesday, but just in case I'm keeping the M8!!:face-icon-small-ton

Gonna be a long wait.............
:beer;

I bet you love it barring no problems as mentioned above. These sleds are so easy to ride it is rediculous!!! I wonder if a major vent kit would help with some cooling issues?? ENJOY!!!

Congrats on your new buggy! Absolutely killer killer sled.

I'm totally bias as I have a relationship with several dealers and aftermarket manufactures but also note with my business I can have any sled I chose of any brand. We make and sell thousands of parts for all of them so simply out of my own personal enjoyment of working and riding I picked the PRO.

Rode the 2010 demo many many miles last year and knew then and there that it was the ticket.

Now after one season of use. Encountered one major problem at 300 miles when a motor mount came out. Did significant damage (clutches, panel, belt) but it was all covered by Polaris free of charge. My cost was my time and travel expense. They were great to work with at Carl's Cycle sales and that was it's only time at the shop all season.

Here is what we did to this one:

Now we have done extensive mods like Better Boards, track trim, Carl's clutching, Fly bars, plastic paint and powder coating, ArcticFX vinyl, A TOTALLY KILLER FOX EVOL R front and rear suspension with a RENTON COIL Ti shock spring (IT IS THE ABSOLUTE SHIZNIT) and Holz arms, and then finally we did the POWER ADDICTION 13.6 head (because it's used at 6500-9000 extensively and stock is flat lazy). One thing is certain this sled is absolutely AWESOME! It rips from idle to full blast (pulls epi 64 grams and HOLDS at 8250 7800ft and variable snow conditions don't wreak havoc on RPMs irregardless of the load...170lbs rider) and is a joy to ride irregardless of the snow conditions. So good in fact that I really really struggle to give it up for the 2012! There is not a mod on this sled that I wouldn't recommend to my very best friends! (cept I like smoking them but just like alot of the internet experts they won't listen either!) How's my sled look from the about ten lengths back? brap :face-icon-small-ton

Just to be sure....you knew you were getting red a-arms and rear skid parts and a red seat with the "Black" choice? I missed that until told and Polaris let me change yesterday. I went with the Orange since I will wrap it anyway. Have fun with it. EW
