2011 Pro RMK Broken Chaincase Tab

Just bought a 2011 Pro and going through it for the season. Noticed one of the tabs that mounts the chain case to the tunnel is broken. The previous owner said he hit something on the tunnel right there and it didn't do much damage to the tunnel (just very slightly bent) and must have hit the chain case just right. He tried JB Weld and obviously it cracked.

Anyway, should i be worried about this? I wouldn't think this gets much stress from the drivetrain... It doesn't flex much and there is a mount right under and above it!
Thanks for any help

If you are worried have it welded and when you reinstall it glue it because the 11 where not glued .

Well that chain case holds the bearing which holds your drive shaft. It should also be glued which holds it pretty good. Is there gap or is it still sealed.

What about a piece of plate that will hook to the bolt and span the crack? That should keep pressure on it. Not the best fix, but better than jb weld.

They are cheap, just replace it. I might even have one laying around if you want to trade something for it.

P.S. I just noticed you have one in your E-bay store.

I thought '11 chaincases weren't glued?

They weren't in '11 but are in all subsequent years. Likely because they figured out they should have been. So most go ahead and glue all of them for the extra strength and stiffness of the chassis, not to mention piece of mind.

Yes I used lord fusor 110b (5-8min work time) got it from an auto body supply shop.

The rep told me the 110b is the equivalent to what the factory glue is.

This was the only size I could get and as you can see I used very little of the tube to glue my case on.

There is a specific place for the glue to go aswell, there is a pic of it somewhere.

Dang... the 225ml size.. thats pricey.

And, it does not keep very long once used...

After you use some... pull the tip off and squirt/wipe at the same time so that the two parts don't touch at all... ... then clean the cap of ANY residue and re cap it... store it in the fridge.... you may be able to use it without loosing strength for a couple months yet... otherwise, throw it out.

IMO.. only get what you can use for the job you are doing.

For delivery to your door, with FRESH product...IMO...Get the kit from here
http://www.chemical-concepts.com/snow-mobile-repair-kit-1.html

It fits in a std caulking gun and comes in 50ml tubes (which is the smallest)...Wipe/cap as described above.

Refills for future use are only $20... as the caulk-gun adapter is re-useable.

NOTE:... If you buy some to have "on hand" for the season... an un-opened tube will keep for 6-9 months in the fridge.
