2011+ 800 ETEC in Rev chassis?

Why would you even want to is my question?

E tec motor is not all that magical.I personally wont own one and have several in our group.Just go with a good BB.and custom skid.I could say say what the real HP numbers are after the motor warms up to operating temps however it will cause a pissing match. Just look at the 147 HP Pro that runs hand in hand with the E tec.Hmmm,

you would be much happier in time spent and money invested by dropping a 07 800r motor into a rev,,, it would bolt right up

I want something to turbo. And I hear injected setups are less of a hassle to tune. I like the sled I have now and don't care for another chassis since there is little benefit.

I was thinking about a swap also but the more I look into it I think I'm going to go with a 860 in mine. But I'm not looking into the Turbo option either.

Personally I like the feel of my ho a lot more than any "r" I've ever been on. It obviouslý has a little less power but has a much broader power range. To me the e-tech felt stronger than the r with the power range of my ho. I would love to strap one into my rev. Especially for the option of turboing later. Keep us up to date on how ýou make out with this project. Good luck

The power feeling from the E tec is most likely due to better pull from the non ported track. The motor is not much difference WOT than previous years. It does have a broader power band more like the HO motors. The 840 BB would be a great addition on the HO motor with good low end as well.Much easier project and bet it will outperform the E tec easily. The E tec,s i ride with are not impressive.Buddy has an 06,08 and E tec and disappointed on the overall hype of the E tec,His 06 runs stronger with just a pipe and Tom,s clutching

What is with the hype of the E-tec? I ran a proto last season for 2 weeks and my 2010 800R killed it motorwise.
Then I hear everyone is just INLOVE with their e-tecs and I'm thinking BRP changed something up.
Then I ride em. Bone stock with cans, some with clutchings, but the majority of them stock......I'm not impressed.......I dunno what to say but my 06 hits harder, pulls further, and it screams when you grab a handful.....the e-tecs......not so much.

I know my HO is making over 160hp with the upgrades I have, but I was expecting similar results when lining them up on the hill.....didn't get those results.

You can say its set-up, you can say its preference......but for a stock sled they seem to be rather bland.....definately didn't care for the lack of mid-range hit.

The HO hits harder than the R in the mid because of the Raves.(please nobody comment on how both engines have it) Like grabbing another gear. The Etec is kinda dissapointing in my eyes. Needs some hop ups and unfortunately thats BIG money if you want any performance from these motors.

Personally, I was hoping for the same kinda performance as my HO with the lighter pull and fuel economy.....what we ended up with isn't enough for me to trade-up.

And to add to that......my forward mounted post REV feels oddly IDENTICAL to the '11 XP.......Don't flame me for this one, I love the XP, chassis of choice for me.....until I remembered what it was like to ride a 440 with a forward post......the next day mine had the same set-up and I wouldn't trade it for an XP. That's how much I like it......weird.

Honestly dude I feel the same way. I am not good with change. When I bought the rev I was used to my old 583 and I hàted the rev. Now that I'm used þo the rev I hate everything else. But I got on the e-tech and it felt oddly comfortable. I was doing stuff on that that I can only do on my own machine. For the record I have my post moved ahead as well. And I had the same thought as you. With the pumpkin being paid for I can drop a few g's to run a big bore and be happier than I would spending 15 on a new machine

The e-tech is a weird one. I went out with a dealer one day that brought 3 800 e techs. I heard so much hype that the e-techs were slaying everything. So I made a mark with my 07 and hopped on a 163 e tech and I could'nt mark my 07. I can't say my 07 was working up to par as well. The owner of the dealer was around similar weight to myself and when we were climbing out of a bowl I blew by that 163 etech like it was standing still. However later on we tried a everest 154 that was totally stock. The owner said he did'nt think they had even cleaned the clutches and it absolutely laid a beatdown on every 8 that touched that hill. The owner was a pretty straight shooter so I believed him when he said the machine was untouched. I just found it pretty weird that there was such a difference between 3 machines. It was also the type of snow that the 163 should have been the one to beat as well. So I guess I can believe that there are some that are lighting the world on fire but I believe there are some that are not.

Sounds like there is alot of variences in the etec's. I guess im one of the lucky ones that got one and like it. Mine has more power then any stock sled ive came across. Sounds like it luck if you get a runner or not.:plane:

Could be luck of the draw..however I ran into a couple "hot running" e-tecs recently......and although not near the bottomless pow we like to compare against......I was making speed like crazy in 8"of pow with a hard spring base under. These "hot" e-tecs were suckin wind.......'not saying there aren't e-tecs that do outperform most 800's......I just haven't run across any yet.

And with the HO out of my sled right now.....I'm having a hard time not buying a 900 Cat and having fun........but this is my "stocker" sled........can't, no, can't......must mod!

And on that note........I can ride pretty much whatever I throw my leg over.......I prefer certain models, but for the most part I can jump on the majority of sleds and ride em like their owners do.....I sometimes harder(which doesn't put me in too many peoples good books)

I absolutely cannot wait to ride the ProClimb. I think Cat may have perfected the Rev with this one.......we'll see. I'm riding this old girl for another year simply because I had so much fun on it last winter(and I took the crank out of her)
But after getting back on a Rev as my main ride, I do a lot more when riding now. I jump, I bash trails, I climb, I jump some more, I attack trees and have no reservations about dropping into a tree filled drainage etc. Before, most of my sleds were single, or dual dimension only.
My 163's I couldn't jump(comfortably) I couldn't make a few of the lines I normally would. And trying to rail a corner at 60mph with a 163 is damn near impossible.
My mod, can't jump, can't smack trees(I do but really shouldn't) and definately no trail riding.
My stocker(The Rev) can do all of the above, and still put a smile on my face, and showing up the newer iron is always a bonus.

My perfect day of riding is a mixture of climbing, boondocking, some jumps, and a fast trail ride back to the trucks.....I doubt I'll own a sled in the future that will limit me from doing the above on a daily basis.
