is the shape of the weights gonna make a difference in power delivery? the stock 68g wieghts are too heavy. the next step on the chart is 63g. so i got the 63s. they look the same. After i thought about it I thought 65s would be better. Picked them up today and the angle of the dangle is way different. Parts guy shrugged his shoulders after i asked him......... Thanks:confused:

angle of the dangle ?

You lost me on the angle of the dangle! but i will give you what info i have.

part number 0746-703 is a 68 cat weight.
0746-670 is a 65 cat weight.
0746-694 is a 63 cat weight.
these are a lite tip weight, in other word the end of the tip is tapered off.
notice the difference in width, is the 65 you purchased a heavy tip weight ?
that being not tapered off! if so i would try and stay with a tapered tip. droping 3 grams 68 to 65 should help you out. The weight is stamped on the sides of the weight., like 703-68

dont know if this helps you out, because i was unsure what all you were talking about. RickM

yea Rick that helps... maby ill snap some pics. I think they are light tip weight. My first Arctic cat so that should explain the ignorance..... Comming form ski-doo's:D

I didn't like that big of a step for their recommendation so I put 60-70 gram Cutler adjustable weights in. With current snow conditions I'm holding 8200 rpm's consistantly while ridng 10,000-12,000 feet with about 67.5 grams. I've been very happy with this motor so far. It revs fast and really pulls hard all the way through. 450 miles so far and it seemed to run better and better up until about 350 miles. Sorry I didn't really answer your question, I'm not sure about the different angles of cat's weights.

Yes, the shape, or angle of weights does make a difference in your shift curve an dhow it feels. That is kind of how the adjustables wieghts work....you can add weight where you want it, the heel, middle, or tip. I've nevr experimented with them, but where the wieght is will give a different amount of sqeeze on the belt.

I probably have it a little off, but it can make a difference on performance.

I have 3 sets of 73g weights. I have them ground so they are 73, 72, 71. I take the weight off of the side so that it doesn't change the shift characteristics. I don't understand the huge jump also.

Still confuzzled

Thanks guys. Yea, I wish I knew which weights to put in..... I think they are light tips. Anyone running cutler light tip adjustables???? if that is even a product..

the profile of the weight is the same concept of the "ramps" in a ski doo TRA. like another member said, it changes the way it shifts.
