Some of the guys that were testing last year through on a lightweight m1000 can and had no issues; so I would say a lightweight can is an easy bolt-on
Typically a lightweight can is safe, and intakes too, but it all depends on the mapping cat uses for this new beast. Either can cause a lean bog or lean spot if the mapping is "Aggressive"

Once in a while some aftermarket cans hurt the performance of efi sleds, so do some research there. Extra air is a good thing. These things can be run a sea level, so at elevation you can use a lot more intake.

Is the can on the 2010 m8 the same part # as the can on the 2009 M1000.
