My buddie took one out M8 153. Blew a belt with only one ride on it and thought it was a pile. went back and got his 06 M7 with pipe, can and highmarked the 2010 m8. But he said it was only pulling 7400 rpm. the snow builds up behind the seat as well.
The 09 m8 in the group with a slp pipe flat kick the pi$$ out of all of them.

i also took out the new 8, with an 09 m8 slp pipe, and stock 09 m8, as well as m1000, xps ,dragons, 75 miles and all that tried it were impressed with this machine . climbed right with the m8, in an up hill drag the 09 m8 would pull the 2010m8 but not by much, this new sled also had 0 miles on it when we got it, sled pulled 8000 to 8100 all day,{ mind you i did have my secondary on it} motor was quick reving and held rpm through the climbs. if i was in the market for an 8 it would be a no brainer.
This review is more in line with what I would expect. As someone else posted this is the 1st post where the new 2010 M8 simply didn't aniliate the other sleds. This also confirms my suspicions that a well tuned 09 M8 with an slp single will hold it's own against the new 2010 and if you get the slp head and port work it will probably out do it. Oh and Snowdog if you could find an 09 for the 7.5 to 8k range I would recommend going that route instead. This 10 motor might be a runner but it IS a new motor with very little consumer test time on it. The 09 and old M8 motors have been very reliable, I think it may be best to wait a bit to see how she shakes out.
there is a lot of people saying "buy an 09 and put an slp single on it and you'll be right there with it." does everyone think the aftermarket companies aren't gonna come out with pipes and what not for the 2010? Put the slp on the 09 and it will be with the 10' but put a pipe on the 10' and it'll pull away. But whatever floats your boat what do I know.

Your right M8Chirs but I guess it all depends on your wallet but you are making a couple assumptions here. 1. That an aftermarket pipe will yield a bunch more HP, we won't know until fall. 2. Maybe there is more porting and head work to be done on the motor to yield more HP but this new motor already will require 91 will the port work and head work push it to needing a splash of race fuel, well again we won't know until fall. Arctic cat went after the HP with the 800 motor by changing the port timing, higher compression head lighter crank, bigger injectors and a different pipe so I just don't know how much is left for the aftermarket guys without really changing things up. The 09 is a proven commody with aftermarket companys such as SLP or Speedwrex have done gets the 09 to 170hp or so on 91 ocatane. I sure wish I could have ridden a 10 to compare. Oh well maybe next year.

we had an 08 m-8, ported, piped, clutched.....very good runner, the 2010 took it easily....we also had a very good 1000, piped and clutched, the 1000 would just barely take the 2010 m-8.....these sleds were run on spring snow, perhaps in different snow conditions, the results might have been different....overall riding of the 2010 m-08s, both sno-pro and hcr were very impressive....and both woud kick my d-8 with slp exhaust and good clutching...........
From a buddy I have talked with it is way better on the bottom end then the 09 QUOTE]
And the cranks are gunnna go BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!! because they lightened them.....
hopefully not
