2010 M8.....Anyone have any seat time from the demo rides?

My buddie took one out M8 153. Blew a belt with only one ride on it and thought it was a pile. went back and got his 06 M7 with pipe, can and highmarked the 2010 m8. But he said it was only pulling 7400 rpm. the snow builds up behind the seat as well.
The 09 m8 in the group with a slp pipe flat kick the pi$$ out of all of them.

From a buddy I have talked with it is way better on the bottom end then the 09 and this is coming from a buddy of mine that has lots of seat time on it.

I somehow find this hard to believe. Everyone else has been saying the 2010s rock. Your the first post that say your "buddy" said they suck.

i also took out the new 8, with an 09 m8 slp pipe, and stock 09 m8, as well as m1000, xps ,dragons, 75 miles and all that tried it were impressed with this machine . climbed right with the m8, in an up hill drag the 09 m8 would pull the 2010m8 but not by much, this new sled also had 0 miles on it when we got it, sled pulled 8000 to 8100 all day,{ mind you i did have my secondary on it} motor was quick reving and held rpm through the climbs. if i was in the market for an 8 it would be a no brainer.

Hi guys, my first post here. So i've been a polaris guy my whole life and i am seriously thinking of jumping ship and going with the '10 m8. Didn't get a chance to drive one but they sure looked sweet at the jackson climbs. Will i be happy with cat?? They all have their problems i know. RJ in MN

This review is more in line with what I would expect. As someone else posted this is the 1st post where the new 2010 M8 simply didn't aniliate the other sleds. This also confirms my suspicions that a well tuned 09 M8 with an slp single will hold it's own against the new 2010 and if you get the slp head and port work it will probably out do it. Oh and Snowdog if you could find an 09 for the 7.5 to 8k range I would recommend going that route instead. This 10 motor might be a runner but it IS a new motor with very little consumer test time on it. The 09 and old M8 motors have been very reliable, I think it may be best to wait a bit to see how she shakes out.

there is a lot of people saying "buy an 09 and put an slp single on it and you'll be right there with it." does everyone think the aftermarket companies aren't gonna come out with pipes and what not for the 2010? Put the slp on the 09 and it will be with the 10' but put a pipe on the 10' and it'll pull away. But whatever floats your boat ;) what do I know.

we had an 08 m-8, ported, piped, clutched.....very good runner, the 2010 took it easily....we also had a very good 1000, piped and clutched, the 1000 would just barely take the 2010 m-8.....these sleds were run on spring snow, perhaps in different snow conditions, the results might have been different....overall riding of the 2010 m-08s, both sno-pro and hcr were very impressive....and both woud kick my d-8 with slp exhaust and good clutching...........

Your right M8Chirs but I guess it all depends on your wallet but you are making a couple assumptions here. 1. That an aftermarket pipe will yield a bunch more HP, we won't know until fall. 2. Maybe there is more porting and head work to be done on the motor to yield more HP but this new motor already will require 91 will the port work and head work push it to needing a splash of race fuel, well again we won't know until fall. Arctic cat went after the HP with the 800 motor by changing the port timing, higher compression head lighter crank, bigger injectors and a different pipe so I just don't know how much is left for the aftermarket guys without really changing things up. The 09 is a proven commody with aftermarket companys such as SLP or Speedwrex have done gets the 09 to 170hp or so on 91 ocatane. I sure wish I could have ridden a 10 to compare. Oh well maybe next year.

2010 m8

For those of you who can make it to Fairview do, Boondockers has a 2010 Turbo M8, that we will be showing to the public. Thanks D

Its so funny that Cat comes out with a refined beast of an 800 motor and all the guys who bought an 09 try to justify their purchases by slapping a pipe on it and saying it will outperform a 2010 M8 HO The 2010 M8 flat out rips, my buddy got back from a week long trip with Burandt and rode the M8 HCR......nothing but great reviews. There will be pipes, cans, etc.. for the 2010 M8 HO, and from everything I hear it is an absolute animal.

But please keep posting your mental justifications on keeping your M8's from 2009, the 2009 is a bad azz sled, just dont knock the 2010 which you know very little about.

Please, I have a very modded M7 162 LE that rips, and its not going to touch a 2010 M8, the M8 is an animal! I have a feeling you never even sat on a 2010 m8

X2..I just hope it wont be like a Doo motor, topped out of the box. like said above, 91 already. I want one though. Gotta work on the wife some more!!:D

I will bet the slp pipe on the 2010 m8 does not make near the power it does on the 09 where it allready comes with a tuned pipe. It will probably be closer to the gains you see on the xp and dragon 800 which is 4-6hp. The 2010's are still going to be awesome sleds but I love my 09 M8 especially with the slp performance package. It is funny how you hear from some that the 09 with a pipe would hang with the 2010 while others have said the stock 2010's were out performing the M8's with porting and pipes. Only time will tell.

Kevin from MountainMagic was saying a ported 09 M8 was about identical to the new 2010 sled but did say the 2010 still had more torque. I would love to ride one as my 09 M8 with the slp porting and pipe rips.

i bet it will end up next fall like a piped 09.its still only an 800.and wont be spankin everything on the hill.

I have to say I agree with you. You are right cat is already pushing this motor to the limit seems like. Previous years still had a lot of room for more power. Everything you said I agree with and it makes sense. Tooshay.
