2010 head squish....

I installed the Wiseco/PMS kit on Dragon 800 and found the squish to be .065", but I didn't check it before pulling it apart. Has anyone checked the squish on the 2010 head and stock 2 ring pistons? Thanks!

Not sure what you are up to, but I got big gains in my 2009 D8 with a high compression head. The stock head was used along with a slight stock pipe mod. Ran awesome but did require a gallon or two of race.

Thanks IDPOLARIS. I have mine in a turbo application. I am running the stock 2010 head. I was going to open the squish back toward stock, but I decided to leave it at .065" and having the boss for the sparkplug at the top of the dome removed. I'll then probably run a shorter plug.

I think PMS has been using this kit with the older higher compression head on naturally aspirated engines with good success. One reason the kit runs stronger may be the taller pistons-it tightens up the loose squish and effectively lowers port heights about .010".

Running a 09 block with 2010 cyl and a 08 high comp head with the PMS kit, squish measured .055.Was runing the 2010 update head and was getting 135psi compression, end of season changed to the high comp head and comp went to 155psi only got 1 ride on it though. This is at 2200 ft

Only got one ride on it in heavy spring snow, but seemed to run good with 08 mapping.Tried to get it to detonate in all throttle positions but it ran fine.Took the cyl off and took it to have the exhaust ports opened up as the 2010 isn't as aggressive as the 2009.Was a little soft on the top-end.I'm hoping that will help.

The PMS kit does increase compression slightly over the updated head. Not sure on the old un-updated. I would be careful on the turbo apps, you don't need any more compression.

For those looking for heads, SLP had some for sale in the bargain area.

Turbo application is why I was looking into this squish. My gauge shows 120 lbs at 1400 ft on new pistons with the .065"'squish. It sounds like this should be pretty safe for straight 100ll.

Just wondering what slightly more is, as far as a number is? Going to order my PMS kit next week and a Power Addition head as well. 12.5 was recommended for the PA head for my 3000-5500' riding elevation. How much higher will the PMS kit make it? 1/4 point at most? Was not wanting to go higher than 12.5 overall.

The ratio isn't the only problem. It is supposed to raise the ratio about 1/2 point, but it will tighten squish .010". I think Brads heads are at .055" squish with factory pistons, which would make an overtight .045" squish with the PMS pistons. I would definitely consult directly with any aftermarket head people with squish clearances and these squish reducing pistons.
