2010 Doo

That's a hell of a nice sled, even if it's not a 2010. The black tunnel looks great on it. I don't expect to see an 800E-tech either. They only made the SDI 800 for one year and you had to get the MXZ, you couldn't even get it in the summit. They have already met the 2010 emission compliance with the carbed 800 no need for direct injection just yet.

If they painted the inside of the tunnel there would be less ice build-up. It doesn't take much paint and once paint dries it is almost impossible to see a weight difference. CATs 5# claim = :D

skidoo stopped painting the tunnels for quite some time there cause they saved 2 to 3 pounds on the old yellow mxz's back in 97 98. this came straight from a box of old magazines that i have kept.

True on the weight of the paint, minor weight but why would they bother adding weight when the obvious trend is loosing it, maybe it's an de-icing paint? Hmmm...Teflon coat a tunnel? American Racing did it to there wheels, ice wouldn't build up, you get foot traction from the sharp edges, not the flat surfaces anyways. I wonder how it would hold-up/cost to do it?

Actually, I believe mapmaker is right. That's the whole reason that they went away from painted tunnels... to cut a few pounds. I also believe that they have figured out a way to apply the paint/powder coating that is lighter somehow. (Hmm... Now I have to find where I read that so I don't look retarded)

I love the black & orange! Ditch the white though.

Anodizing is the newest and best way to have a colorued tunnel cause it doesn;t really wear and virtually no weight is added.

Anyone who thinks paint doesnt weigh anything needs to talk to the areo industry. We painted a UH1 and it added 1000 pounds to the ship.. Paint does add weight its a fact. How much on a tunnel is another thing. But it is heavier than bare.

Agreed with ^^^^ as i paint aircraft for a living paint adds weight for sure thats why we have to be very careful when painting the rudder, elevators and trim tabs.....very important!
