2010 D8 Analog Tach?

Sorry if this question has been asked before......

Do you know if there is a plug and play tachometer, with all the idiot lights, that you can replace the round "plug" with on a 2010 Dragon? I have done this before on an older Polaris, but I am not sure if there is a gauge that works or if the sled is pre-wired so you can just pop it in.

Thanks!

You can get a gauge from a 2005 or 2006 900 RMK/Fusion, or a 2006 600 or 700 RMK/Fusion... ...It has an analog tach/speedo in addition to the digital readout. (you choose what you want to be digital)...

Replace the whole gauge...Ebay has them on there for reasonable prices often.

Plug-n-play.

It is actually a beautiful gauge, The analog section can be either speed or Tach...With the digital readout set to whatever you want. Analog is backlit and can be red or Blue just like the digital part.
But too expensive...Polaris needed to cut the price of the sled... The Analog went bye-bye.

There are some extra functions on the analog/digital MFD that are not on the digital-only MFD... like Altimeter inputs and ambient air temp inputs. (pins 10-11 & 19-20) but this will NOT affect the use on your 2010.

You will need to download a 2005/06 Users manual from Polaris (free) to learn how to use the mode button for displaying what you want to see.

Eric, the altimiter and ambient temp guage is wired on the 08 dragons..mine have had both hooked up since new(both plug and play).....

Altitude

Not side track this tread. If your question deschutes has been answered, does anyone know if I can put the altimeter on my dragon? I have an 08 dragon 800 and I think the altimeter would be nice to add because mine never came with it. I understand it is an option. Was wondering if putting it on after the fact is possible without replacing the entire gauge? Thanks

Yes, it is plug and play like AKSNOWRIDER said. You have the the wiring/plug from the factory, you just need to purchase the Polaris sensor. Same thing for the ambient temp guage.

Do you happen to have a part number for the altimeter? 2008 dragon 800? I have tried looking online but can't seem to find it.

Altimeter and temp gauge

okay so I found some part numbers I think.
looks like 2875948 is the altimeter and 2875949 is the temp gauge. Only thing is it listed them for the 2005 900 fusion. From what I can tell though they are the same gauges that are plugged into my harness on my 2008 dragon 800? Can anyone confirm this. Thanks

They aren't gauges... they are altitude (baro) and temp sensors.... 2 seperate sensors.

deschutes said he had a 2010... I do not belive that the '10's had the connectors in the wiring harness for those accessories. (temp & atlitude) even though the harness is listed as the same part number in the fiche.

Lets get some pics up of the 2010 harness to confirm this though... The books can be wrong often. Anyone with a '10 that wants to snap some photos

AK...Any pics of your sensors and the connectors in your 2008 sled that you can post here?

In the factory manual it says some conflicting information...Like in the 2007 maunual:
NOTE: Altimiter and air temp. connectors will be male and female connectors, not plugs

I'd really like to see the temp/altitude sensors that you have in your 2008 harness

Sensors

My bad, I meant to say sensors. So I have looked over my sled and only found one possible connector. Its toward the front of the sled on the left side on the other side of the heat shield for the pipe. I am thinking this is were the baro sensor, and temp sensor would hook up. According to wiring diagram mine are the wrong wire colors. I assume the colors may not be correct on the diagrahm for my year. 2008 dragon 800. So I assume these are plug and play. I am hoping that I can buy p/n 2875948 for altitude sensor and 2875949 for the temp sensor and plug them in then the instrument cluster will start displaying alt and temp. I am also assuming that polaris is using the same parts for 2005 900 fusion because that is the only sled that list alt sensor and temp sensor.

I think you need to look on your headlight harness...

Also, for the ambient temp sensor... you have to think hard for a spot to put it... If under the hood you will read under hood temps...if outside of the body work.. and it gets snow on it... you will read 32 degrees or so all the time...

Maybe on the incoming stream of air inside of the console intakes??

I'd wait for AK to check back in with some pics...

Since the note on the diagram says:

NOTE: Altimeter and air temp. connectors will be male and female connectors, not plugs

I wold not assume that the 2005/06 Altitude/temp sensors will plug into the 2008...

Electrical parts are not returnable.... and for the most part, neither are special order parts.

Just my 2 cents.

hmm

Any idea what the connector with 3 wires is next to the right of the chassis powerup (two wire connector)?

I am more interested in the altimeter at this point.

Yea, I will wait for more pics. I pulled this off another forum

"Part # 2875949 air temp. kit plugged right into my '08 600 Dragon!"

Haven't found anything on the altimeter yet, which is what I am more interested in.

I do not believe that any of the connectors in your pic are for the sensors... I'm sure that AK can clear this up.

While you are at it... and since you have a Wiring diagram.... Use that photo you have above..... Write down the connectors and the corresponding wire colors of the connectors in your hand... look them up on the diagram and post up what you find for others to learn from.

Shadow...Open your hood...Remove #12 and take a pic of your hood harness and back of gauge... Post it up in this thread.

There should be some connectors for the projector beam headlight accessory on there too.

Sorry guys for not chiming back sooner....summer time is a bad time for me to find time to be on here...since all my stuff is packed I cant upload pics that I took, but the altimeter plug is actually 2 plugs, the first is a double plug, black in color, with brown/white and orange/white wires in it..there is also a black single terminal with a dark green wire that is used.....for the ambient temp guage there is 2 black single wire connectors with 1 having a brown/white and the other a black wire that is used....all of these are on the engine harness right by where both the hood plug and the exhaust sensor plug in..as for the temp probe I ran mine out thru the plastic and siliconed the end to the frt upper shock mount(the factory installs the probe into the back of the stock plastic bumper)..I have checked its temp against my temp probe on my fluke meter and even with it covered in snow its always with in 1 degree of my fluke...both sensors were plug and play..I didnt have to touch anything else to make them function....hope that helps on the wires guys..and both kits I ordered were for the 05-06 900's if I remember right....Eric, I was also told that my 08 didnt have the wires..but it did..I am sure if someone looks that the 10 does have them as well....
