2010 cfi engines

Yes, they will get you about 2-300 more miles before they detonate. Should put you around 1500 miles between engines. With a little luck.

It's really hard to say, but my opinion is no. They are not any better. Polaris cut too many corners with these sleds and they just seem destined to destroy themselves.

nope, if you get a "good" one that for some reason has the proper clearance it will run longer. But if Polaris keeps being idiots and giving a hard time with warrenty, and just slappin a new top end on ??????????? IMHO I would not buy one

I was told by a very good source that the '10 engine has thicker cylinder skirts which elimitates the engine issue. how many '10 engine have had engine failers

The reason I think there going down is because the oil pumps are no good, most of the burndowns i have seen are the mag side. look at how the lines are ran off the oil pump, for some reason polaris ties 2 lines together at the pump and the line runs to feed the lower rod bearing on pto side. on the mag side its one line out of pump to feed mag side bearing. mag side isnt getting enough oil plus check your oil pump cable-they strech

Yes, I beleive the 10's do have thicker cylinder skirts, however there still going down (mine did) but likely not as frequent as the 08's and 09's. I'm on my 5th engine. 4 top ends and one complete short block assembly (skirt fell, took out crank, and cracked the block).

OK more data the 2010 cylinder part # 3022201 has in fact 2mm thicker skirts than the 08-09 cylinder part # 3021843, it is however longer as well and the top case half of a 08-09 would have to be bored deeper to allow the 2010 cylinder to fit. i have not seen one so i can't tell how much longer the skirt is. the 2010 cylinder is around 850 bucks and the 08-09 is 500 ish . you could however cut a 2010 cylinder to fit the case much easier than cutting the case, now it would be the same lenght as the 09 but still thicker.

The problem is not the cylinder wall, but the piston slop. The case wont help. We had an 09 and 10 go down the same weekend. Both looked the same, failed in the same spots.

I wouldn't waste my money, it might help but it didn't "save" it.

how about just having the cylinder renicked to the proper piston to cylinder wall clearances. using the '10 cylinder. if you have to replace the cases then just buy the '10 cases and cylinder.

I already commented on the other thread about a re-nick. To use the 10 monoblock cylinders you have to machine your lower end to make them fit. They are longer and thicker but there have still been motors go down that are 2010 sleds.

The real fix is getting a piston that fits in there.

I am betting that the sleds that have not had issues are the ones that got lucky and just happened to get two tighter fitting pistons in them.

Mine has ran perfect, but I am taking the pistons out today. I have regular wiseco pistons on the way.

Don't forget to give us some cylinder and piston measurements. Interested as I will be doing something also as my pto piston is pretty loose according to the inspection through the ex valve port. Hoping the cylinder is in spec and it;s just pistons

Yes, I am planning on full measurements of the Polaris updated pistons and the wiseco.

I might be able to get me hands on some other Polaris pistons as well.

Just more data another motor we just pulled apart, no damage at 300 miles just checking...update pistons... pto side piston 3.337, mag side 3.338. bore was .001 over to standard 3.3475 ...we have 1 more showing up this weekend, all 09's btw.

We have a set of the extra thick single ringers polaris made for race use at sea level, a tad better but still .007 clearance...nice piston tho, going in turbo deal
