What a weekend....
We just finished up our season on Saturday night.
GREAT matches. Many upsets and many happy champions. Only a select few win their last match of the season.

Let me set the stage.

Twin brothers Jade and Val Rauser from Townsend, MT.
STUDS in the USA Wrestling national freestyle and greco scene.
Multi-time National finalists and champions-------------->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-p4hOULDJE

Last year they were at 98 and 105 pounds as freshman. We lost to the 105 pounder in the title match last year.
They TORE through the season and practically pinned their entire season to get a pair of state championships.

Doesn't happen very often.

They have a chance to be the first pair of twins in Montana to EACH win 4 state titles.

This year, their sophomore season.
Same deal. TEAR through their seasons. I don't know if either had a match go the distance.
My 105 pounder lost to Jade in the state semifinals this past weekend. My freshman 112 pounder lost in the 1st round at state to Val.

They are on a roll.

All season long the blogs around the state were saying this freshman Zieger kid from Glasgow as going to be Val at state and that Val had been dodging him. Dodging him? Whatever.

Here is someone's edited version of that state championship match on Saturday night. Defending champ in blue and challenger in white:

It was FLAT OUT CRAZY loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And we jsut happened to be sitting next to the Glasgow section.;)

This video does NO justice to the noise in that arena. There had to be 8000 people there Saturday night.

This is an awesome sport.

Yeah, the granby was awesome. That's how you catch a guy on his back.
There's enough peeps doing shrugs and slide-bys now that if you don't know how to defend em, you are in trouble.

Easy now, you're getting close to my home town--Scobey. :beer;;)

My buddies kid wrestled USA thur the 6th grade. His only losses in 4-5 years were to this kid.

My buddy said Saturday morning we should go watch the Championship match as he said this kid from Glasgow would win it...he was right--FOR ONCE. ;)

Thanks for the link Scott. Getting me pumped up for the Idaho State matches next weekend. Caught myself hollerin' "HEADLEVER, HEADLEVER" a couple times ;).

As a note, the little-bitty school that I went to (1A Challis), nearly beat the 3rd ranked 5A school (Idaho Falls) in a duel the other night:cool:. They were ahead going into the last match. Pretty awesome when you wretling team gets more attention than both the Football and Basketball teams combined.

No better sport to be involved in. Now if we can just get number the Nubmer 11 ranked Boise State Wrestling team to pick up some of these studs from Montana, and keep them from going east.

Make sure you tell them, Scott, that sledding is better here in Boise than in the midwest. We need ever advantage we can get!:beer;:beer;

I watched Boise dual U of Great Falls back in Nov. Those boys were looking strong. Ranked 11th, eh? WOW!!!!

Greg Randle has done a GREAT job with them.

Yeah, they have been thumping people in the PAC-10. No one has come within 12 points in confrence duels. All of our studs (Hall, Smith, Chriswell, Lee) are all ranked 13th or higher and are just sophmores. Should be a good couple of years.

tourney time in MN - there is always great match ups this time of year.

This section in MN is LOADED and team finals are this friday: some of the toughest team in state this year are from same section and wil not even make it to state:

Check it out.....its held in Rochester, MN where i went to college

Best of the best.....here's some names.....

Apple Valley, MN
Glenbard North, IL
Blair Academy, NJ
Ballard (huxley), IA

Sorry to post Jack....the sight i adore on the basketball floor is wrestling mats from door to door.

Nice vid Scott.....

Something similar happened in SD, around 10-15 years ago. Someone may be able to remember the names better than me(Twister your an old;) SD wrestler do you know?).

Senior going for title number 4 got beat by freshman or sophmore... Chad Lammer... Chad is one tough SOB, almost made the Olympics, wrestled at SDSU, and now I heard he is doing the cage fighting thing. I remember when we would wrestle open college tournaments, he would beat up on alot of the D1 guys.

Scott... you think that is loud, you guys need a dual meet state team tournament. You should check out the Minnesota State Tourney some day...

finnpacoutdoors...... we wrestled in a tournament very similar to that in the Cities. There was teams from all over the country. It was right before X-mas.
