2009 M8 reverse issue...

I am having an issue with my reverse on my M8. When I hit the button th emotor stalls and then turns backwards. I then hit the throttle and the secondary clutch sucks the belt and it then just burns the belt. I have cut an angle into the back of the hyfax already as it was hitting the clips when it was new. Any ideas???

The secondary should be staying closed, with the rollers locking into the the cutouts on the helix. Also make sure your hyfax are not too long. They should be ending at least 1/2" before the end of the rail.

did you change anything on the secondary clutch. the helix has to have the reverse notches in it to hold the belt.

It is your secondary, If it is adjusted to loose it will "miss" the notches in the secondary and open up instead of sliding into the notches to lock it closed with the motor reversed.

I want to revisit this issue. I have taken it to the dealer and they said they took care of it. It has a BDX helix installed by them. I picked it up and took it out to ride it last weekend and lo and behold it still just smokes the belt in reverse. I am not familiar with this clutch on this sled as my last sled was a 2004 Polaris with a Team clutch. I know it is in the secondary I just have no idea how to go about taking care of it. Again what happens is when the sled is in reverse and I hit the throttle the secondary opens all the way up and it just smokes the belt. Any ideas????
Thanks

The secondary helix must not have the notches cut for the rollers to catch. can you take some pics of the secondary?

I was having problems with my m8 in reverse and after switching everything possible on the secondary my dealer put a brand new secondary on and the problems disappeared. We never did find a problem with the old secondary. If given the chance I would throw a new one on and see what happens.:beer;
