2009 F-150 released

What are you guys talking about? According to the whole world, Dodge is the only one with a crappy drivetrain.:D

looks to me like a titan banged a silverado. i think all of the companies have the same engineers working for them

Im still looking for a half ton that gives 300 hp, 20 city and 30 hwy. All it needs to pull is max 4000 pounds. If I need to pull more than that I would get a 2500. How many people out there pull over 4 sleds that dont have something over a half ton. Its nice to see the dodge step it up. Im liking the chevy best right about now. They are all good looking trucks though.

GMC Denali has 403 HP and 21 mpg on the freeway... The inside can only be described as POSH!!!

love the blue color on that new ford...

Well, I must be the odd Man out. I think the new F-150 looks great. Of course I think all the new trucks are much improved over the previous models.

I mentioned nothing about the drive line specifically but it's interesting you bring it up. I am referring specifically to the drive train in 1/2 ton pickups (97 - current). I know their 11th gen (04-08) was updated somewhat from the previous generation but their whole half ton lineup is a bit suspect if you ask me. Throw a diesel in the mix and its bound to cause problems.

To top things off, Ford's reputation as a legitimate diesel engine manufacturer is less than stellar after their 6.0 debacle. Not to mention their less than amicable relationship with International over the past 12 months. Does not sound like a mix where I'd feel very comfortable spending $30K+.

Not to bash, but what's the point of a 1/2 ton diesel. It will reduce the payload even more since they are heavier so pulling 10,500 or 11,000 has no practical use in a 1/2 ton unless you have an 11,000# rig with 500# tongue weight???

Diesel's now take around 110,000 miles + before they start to pay for the difference in cost between gas... even projected higher than that with future cost of fuel prices.

I run a diesel and my truck before that was a Titan that was a monster puller for a 1/2 ton but other than a person just liking diesels, I can't figure out the real advantage from a utility point of view?

Doesn't look too bad. Although I hate it when they put the shifter in the center console, such a waste of space.

I am excited for the upcoming half-ton diesel offerings. I really don't need a SuperDuty/HD truck. Diesel torque and fuel economy would be nice, but the convenience and size of a half ton.

How does it pay? It costs on average 7K more for the engine. It costs on average $.50/per gallon more of fuel and doesn't get any better mileage then the gassers when not pulling something. So unless you have a trailer hooked to it all the time, and I mean permenantly it will NOT ever equal or pay for itself. Sorry, just won't happen anymore.

All gassers can go well over 100,000 miles if not more and who keeps their diesels for 250,000 miles? Not too many.

As for a 1/2 ton having a diesel. Sure it's heavier but again, while pulling a trailer the diesel still is an advantage and I would think in the 1/2 ton market the OEM's would be pushing more of an economy thing then an all out battle for HP and Torque. Just MY OPINION but I bet that's the routh the OEM's take with the 1/2 ton diesels.

Time will tell.

As for the Dodge, why are they so inexpensive or should I say why are GM's and Ford's so expensive? It's crazy what you can get a Dodge for versus the other two. Makes me wonder what's going on.

For those who don't have the obsession of "I have to have the newest thing" many people do run well more than that. I plan on running my gas truck to over 200K miles b4 I even think of updating to something else, and I still plan to keep it at that point as a back-up rig. Sure you may have to have it in the shop a few extra times, but they will still run for many more miles than the "older" rigs will.

I firmly believe that those who have to have a new rig all the time are just looking to make a fashion statement, no, I'm not talking about those who get one after it is ten years old, and want something better, but the people who DO buy new EVERY YEAR. It is kinda like sleds, people buy a new one one year, and then trade it off because the "New" one has 5 more horsepower and a new color of paint. Unless you put on 8,000 miles in one year, there is no reason that you can't run it for a while, and simply enjoy what you have.

This is just my opinion, but it is what I believe, and on a side note, I would like to thank all of those who DO update every year, it gives the more "poor" people like me something reasonable to consider.

Sorry to get a little off topic, I will now return you to your regularly scheduled posting:cool:

I hear ya. I would like to have a disposable income like some do.

The diesel craze went gang busters in the early 2000's and up. It's still shocking how many you see driving around without so much as a receiver or ball installed in the hitch. Now that's funny!

You got to admit, it's nice sometimes to simply say screw it, I'm getting something new!
