2009 Dragon Secondary Clutch Problems

I'm having problems getting my belt to sit higher on the secondary clutch. I have the set screw in as far as it will go, and still the belt won't sit higher. I have also tried pulling the set screw out real far too, and same result. From what I understand, the belt should be sitting 1/8" higher than the sheath? Correct me if I'm wrong. Please let me know if there is anything I can do? Something wrong with secondary? Primary? Thanks!

Adjust go for a ride or spin track on a stand and then recheck, the belt wont come up higher on the secondary after you adjust untill it make a few revolutions.

I've had good luck working the belt around the secondary sheave by hand. Allowing it to climb to the top until you can just barely slip it around. I set mine so the cords on the side of the belt are just lined up with the top of the secondary. As skibreeze stated the deflection needs to be correct as well. And I believe you want to back out the set screw to get the belt to ride higher.

I had an 09 apart yesterday and the deflection screw had chewed half way threw the deflection washer between the clutch halves and the screw was really warn off. So you may want to pull it apart and see how that looks.

Make sure you have the correct belt. Even the OEM belts correct for the application will have some differences that may measure up long. You might also check your side belt deflection on the primary to see that it is in tolerance as well.

You might do a quick eyeball around the radius of the driven where the belt is making contact. See if it is the same all the way around as far as where the belt sits in the sheave. I had one on a friends sled a few weeks back that the spacer washer was damaged and the sheave was actually wide at one point than it was 180 around the other side if that makes sense. If you have the press or someone that can do it for you it might be a good idea to pull it apart and look it it over just for peice of mind. Throw in a couple delrin washers while your in there. Good luck. EW
