2009 D8-Running Great

After suffering through a year and a half with my 08 D8, I had to traded her in for a leftover '09 D8 last April. Hopefully posting this thread will not jinks my new one. I empathize with everybody that continues to or is now having running issues with their D8. My '08 was a nightmare itself. But I have to say, this '09 with the 2010 update has been a dream come true. I have 350 miles on it now and the machine is simply running awesome!!!!! No engine/ECU issues at all. No bog, poor idle, no fouled plugs, no sputter, no hard starting, etc. The whole sled package is just a pleasure to ride. A big difference from the '08. Heck, on Sunday I rode with two 2010 M8's, an '09 M10 and two other '09 D8's. We held our own with the M8's, not that it really matters anyways. Everybody was happy with how their sleds were running on Sunday!! That is how it should be. I hope mine even runs better as I get more miles on it. I also hope that people with running issues with the D8's get them remedied quickly and are able to have great riding in the new year!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to
everybody!!!!:present::):present::)

2009 D8 163
2010 update, wires plugged in, 94 octane fuel
SLP Single pipe
SLP air intake kit
BetterBoards
19/42 gears
Team green primary 150-340
10-66's 8250-8350 rpm, 3000-5000' elevation, coastal snow
- have a set of Ron's Big Torques & BBuster 64/66's to try
Stock secondary spring-2 delrins
Helix-stock for now again
- 62/42/.40 & 60/40/.40 on order
- have two others to try as well
Holz vents, front & rear
Fox Float2's in front
Exit X0 skid shocks-Fastrax
Torsion springs-.375"/47* (Fastrax recommended-260 geared up)
Mo-Flow side vents not installed. May not need them?

Clutches and belt were cucumber cool on Sunday again in 2.5' of snow. Machine pulls like a mule and floats like a cloud. I could not be happier. I will play with the helix and weights a little bit more after I get the new helix I ordered and some new snow.

Rob, The Better Boards are awesome. It is so nice to not have to beat the he-- out of my boots and running boards anymore. Traction is now always there. Thanks for a great product. Gerry:):):beer;:beer;:) :)

Add me to the happy customers list, mine has been good since new, better than ever after the update!!!

Happy customer here. I got the update, added my PCV and my sled rips (stock!). I'm getting 8250 consistantly.

Mines a bit different because of twin pipes but I was kind of the same way. Except now that I've ridden it I'm very happy! Really runs strong just like last year. Here is what is kind of neat. Last year at the end of the season I went to 50% race gas to go and show the gang in Wyoming what is up!:D (got a be fast or you look very bad if you are mouthy like me)

I too bought a PCV and it lays in wait but I'm not going to install it or use it until I've done indepth testing on my current sled with my data logger. All of last year I just ran what I was told and it worked great but I want to know what is going on in there. Before it really didn't matter because you couldn't reliably do anything about it. NOw it appears you can so it will be fun and interesting to learn how it all works and see if there is anything we can do to improve what is already a pretty darn good program. Since there really aren't a ton of my application out there I kind of think there might be some spots I can improve on. I also ride at two distinct altitudes plus so random higher altitude extended trips and I want little better grasp on stuff for those reasons.

Happy with mine too,08'D8 with the update. Got about 300 miles on the update and I'm sure the mid is better and now getting about 8150 to 8250 rpm's on top, just have a can right now but thinkin about a PCV, sounds too good to pass up on.

GAWD finally a refreshing feeling from the polaris forum it was getting so depressing I went to the artic forum just so I could smile

LOL. just don't have to go to AC, just search the 600 threads and you will feel better. That's what I'll be riding until my 8 is fixed.

For all of you thinking about getting the PCV, stop thinking and DO IT! Just installed mine today with DTJ's Stoutner mod 157hp map and it is everything hoped for. Difference can not be expressed without expletives. My advice is, add the PCV with a good map and you will not regret it!

very happy here as well, five rides down and not one problem it pulls harder than last year. 09 d8 slp single "the thing can" vf-3's pulling 8150 clutch parts just arrived today install tonite riding tomorrow.

Very happy with my '10 so far too. Had a mid range stumble on the first tank but diminished a lot when I added gas the first time. I'll soon see if it gets even better on the third tank. Mine rips too. I think it is faster than it's supposed to be after killing a 250# lighter sled/rider in a drag race on a 130 HP 600 Doo snowcross sled. Time will tell as I have a race set up against a stock '10 M8. We'll see if I can hang with him since I have int/exh mods.

My point exactly. I know I was responsible for a lot of complaining about my '08 D8, so I feel it is only fair to contribute to the forum in a favorable way with the current sled running so well. Hope to hear more about how everybody's machine are running and what they have done to them. :):)
