2009 d8 no rpms

ran today up to 9500 ft on hard road can hit 8050 any snow it is 7850-7900. do i need a little stiffer primary spring for the finish rate any help would be appreciated
thanks

Is your sled stock? Here is my clutching set-up with an slp single pipe and can. You can find a lot of good info in the increasing your IQ section.
09 Dragon 800 155
SLP MTX 68 gram weights with no rivets
SLP Green Pink Primary
Stock secondary with two delrin washers
60-38-.36 Helix

I was able to pull 8400 rpms at about 6500 feet and 8200 rpms at about 9500 feet. Best my sled has ran since I have owned. Also check your exhaust valve springs. I looked at mine the other day at WOT and they are not opening all the way. I got a set of pink springs and will try them out this week. Good luck.

I have the same sled and the exact same problem I'm running polaris 58g and a SLP blue pink spring-Sled is all stock-I still in the break in phase but I was hoping after I run thru the premixed tank of gas I would pick up some more rpms-

The exhaust valve spring are surely something to consider. At that altitude I would think you need the pink of even the yellow springs.
I've also been told that the update head may not have adequate compression above 9000 ft. I guess some guys have reported under 100 lbs of compression.
A PC V may be a good investment as the upper RPMs are richer than needed. Combine that with lower compression and it may have a hard time pulling it's own weight. Plus you will have better reliability through all RPMs.
And yes, check out the increasing your IQ sticky for "those who have clutched their D8's".

this sled is all stock except a slp can, i blocked the solenoid hose and it didnt make a difference. i think i need a higher finish rate spring and get the exhaust springs changed, i will put a pc v on but no money right now

pulled the exhaust valves they are pretty clean, also looked at the pistons no scaring at all but the tops look black all over from whay i could see. then i ran a cold compression at wot and a hot(95 degrees) both readings were 90psi this seems a little low

do u think the slp gr-pink and delrins only will do anything right now i am kinda tapped out

Take this with a grain of salt as I am just getting the hang of the clutching thing. (With a lot of help from certain other forum members) But in my opinion yes. The delrins seemed to really smooth out the shifting and the green pink put the "snap" back into my setup without any belt slippage. For about 25 or so dollars from SLP I don't think it would hurt things, and you probably will notice the difference. My friend has the same setup as me minus the delrins and the green pink and there is a noticeable difference. Good luck.

I don't know but 90 psi for compression doesn't seem kinda low -it seems way low, my 02 edge 800 with over 2000 miles on the topend has 120 psi. Maybe they have some type of decompression system that won't it build
psi by hand? I'm keeping my fingerscrossed that after I get done with the breakin oil in the tank I pickup some RPMS. I will test my compression and let you know what mine is. I did check my max RPMs and it said 8300, but I have not reset it from the factory. I will before tomorrows ride.

How did everyone's 09 D8 settings end up after the 2010 season. Interested in settings that included the latest map update in jan 2010.

I have the same set up and All I did to get over 8050 was lighter weights, I have to look which ones, sorry. I pull 8200 -8300 rpms at 6- 9,000.
