2009 Assault...how do they do in the mountains

This is my first time going to the mountains. I'm going to island park in february and i was just wondering how the assault does in the mountains. it has an air horn kit, full slp exhaust, power commander v, iqr walker evans shocks. an anybody help me and tell me what to expect?

It will be fine. The shorter track will hurt you on the bigger hills. Many think it is the stiff compound that hurts but really it is the length.

Get the clutching setup for the elevation you are at. Stock clutching is pretty solid.

The stock WE shocks are pretty stiff. I'd set them at the lowest setting.

If your in the trees or working your way through tight spots... learn to stay on the throttle and feather it out... If you stop... Make sure cardio is good to dig yourself out cause your DONE!! :D lol. I installed the Camo Powder Extreme track on my assault 2 years ago and just being able to stop and go again on a slope made a world of a difference compared to the old ditch witch!! Other than that... you'll have a blast on her for sure!!!

Had mine out last spring/april, had no issues with stock track, not sure what clutch weights to rec. with your slp exhaust... mine needed lighter than 66g to get over 8k in the heavier snow. Dont go without a Snow bungie!

so those snow bungies work pretty good then?

Snowbungies really work.
I think the best other advice in the thread is about getting the clutching set up.
The change equipment to new suspension and track advise is good if you are changing your sled to a mountain sled-- go for if that's what you want or need.

No need for tunnel extensions then? If that's the case i'm doing it soon. Will the CE 2.5 fit without rubbing?

i have the CE 2.5 and i've had zero issues with rubbing. the track is awesome. i would recommend looking at the van amberg bumper extension, it adds a couple of inches to the tunnel which is all that's needed with the longer track.

my track has been hungry a couple of times, and eaten my snowflap:face-icon-small-con
