2008 switchback runs good?

my 2008 sb 600 runs good. but it idles low inturn causing the typical dash flicker and reverse stall. it always fires right up and if I hold the throttle at 1600 it goes into reverse fine and dash stays lit. bought it in march last year it is very clean, runs rich(never measured yet). question is can i turn the idle up with the screw or will i mess up the tps? another thing the throttle slack adjuster is adjusted all the way out can I take up the slack at the tb's? I am on way out to tear into this thing right now. thanks for any help.
Pat.

I would start by testing and setting the tps sensor, on the way to the tps... check your throttle body boots for cracking clean t-body, check and clean exhaust valves/bellows and springs. Test compression. Change your fuel filter. Check and set belt clearances.

air box was easy to get off, i did not even have to take the boots off, the box just slid right off with the boots staying on the tb`s. i guess it has vforce 3 reeds in it. the guy i got it off of said he did the boots and exhaust valves b4 i bought it and it has had maybe 50 miles since then. this air box is not shown in my polaris manual. anyway it is a two piece with a large crack on the bottom where they meet. it has been taped on the top side though. i see the tb boots delaminating on the sides b4 the reeds, should i pull them to be sure.

are they expensive? anyone have a part number. i know I have to plug the coolant lines when I pull the tb's. any other tricks I should be thinking about taking this apart. another thing I am thinking about is the throttle cable, the adjuster to take the slack out is fully wound out and it is just enough to bring the throttle lever to the box. it seems to have been replaced, there is a pure polaris sticker on it. any ideas?
thanks for the words of advice.

am going to pull the tb boots and check them out. clean tb`s, seal up the airbox, compression is 120 both sides(WOT, plugs out, 3 good pulls).not really sure what belt clearances are if someone can help me out that would be great(newbie sorry). track does turn when idleing on stand (white spring in primary) not sure if that makes a difference, it does not creep on the ground tho. like i said the sled runs good, no bog, hesitation, starts good(two pulls all the time) just this low idle..I appreciate the the help, thanks.

You don't have to pull the TB's completely out, they can hang out of the way, just don't kink your cables if you leave them connected, might as well pull and check your reeds too, mine were chipped at 900 miles. Check the stickies.. Great info on belt and clutch servicing and tps checking and setting

thanks for chimin in 7hundo. yep went ahead, cleaned everything, sealed up airbox. idles 1500, a little low but reverse and dash are fine. will wait to get it out to see if I have to make some more adjustments. i had some little zip ties that were perfect for holding the box together tightly then aluminum taped it. I know this thing is getting plenty of oil, could I tweak the idle screw or is that tottally out of the question.

oh ya checked the boots and seems it is a gasket hanging out the corners. all corners look the same. looks like a paper gasket to me.. make sense? the guy told me he had them changed and they look new from the outside other than these flicky corners.
