2008 Spring Fling May 2-4

Pretty sure the ski area is considered motorized, just with restrictions on the type of use. Those hills don't groom themselves. As of April 30, the snowcat skiing area was open to sleds riding off trail, so maybe the ski area is too. Depends when the contract runs out? The whole "non-motorized" thing up there is goofy and vague. Basically, if it supports skiing then motors are OK kind of thing. I've never heard of any tickets or fines actually being levied against sledders. It's more of a courtesy thing I think. That said, we let them have there side of the mountain and we stick to ours.

If you do ride to the top of Mt warner (the ski hill) the non-motorized boundary ends on the east side of the peak. We rode up from the east side within a 1/4 mile one day.

A piston showed up on the ups truck yesterday, so time to get busy. I'll be up there tonight with my offering to the snow gods. Snowing pretty good here at glacier view now.

Well I'm in Steamboat right now working and you guys are going to have an awesome weekend, woke up with about 2" on the truck in town and it has been snowing all day. Looking up towards the ears it looks completly socked in!!

Then you have no excuse not to join in the fun :) You're already there.

feeling to ill to work tomorrow

who all is riding tomorrow? feel a sick day coming on with all the snow flying...

I thought powder riding was over for the year, looks like I was wrong!:D

We plan to be there by 9 or 10 tomorrow morning, but it looks like we will have to brave a couple winter storms along the way. So, if you guys head out before we get there, leave us a trail of cookie crumbs or something and we'll chase you down!

We'll wait for you. Call my cell in the morning if you get seriously delayed and give a status as to your ETA.

Bdubs - At a minimum, Yammerhammer, Bushmaster, these 2 nodak boys and I will be riding tomorrow - I'm sure there will be more - come on up.

We are leaving in about 6 hours.

my only illness is the classic sick of the office bullsh!t virus that seems to affect me every week around thursday...

Looks like tomorrow will be the day, sat won't be bad but I want freshies!

It must be spreading I'm feeling the same symptoms and can see making it into work. I'll be there tomorrow it ought to be an excellent day.

I'll be up there this weekend, maybe tomorrow as well.
Look forward to meeting some fellow sledders, I'll make sure to stop by if I'm in the area and introduce myself.
Hopefully this weekend, I won't be leaving the sled at the bottom of 54 for the night as I did back in March.

Ahh... May 1st storm. Got to luv it.
This will make the 7 months of powder riding. 11/07 to 5/08
What a great year!!!

Those responses were WAY too quick boys, back to work!!

I'll plan on hitting muddy @ 9:30-9:45 then, that should work.

Abby is coming from Empire in the morning & meeting me up there, that way we can leave the truck all weekend & not have to worry about parking.

I'll bring some cones & save spots for you guys that can't make it friday!!

i'll be up early fri...maybe even get a ride in before people start waking up by the sounds of it. :P or be waking people up..to get them out for a ride...either way... haha

If you bring up cones I would just put them out by hwy 40. A lot easier for you and people can't say your saving specific spots.:D

oh, that's no fun, I'll bring about 20 of them & save 10-12 spots in muddy cr. lot, I'm sure nobody will mind!!

DJ, are you shooting for 6am or something??? Not my game on my day off!!

Bushy, I'm pretty sure the mountain is legal to ride, the problem is access. Like I said, WP is legal, but we'll get a trespassing ticket for parking right at the base. I would assume this is the same deal here, but I just don't know how to get around it like I do in WP.

I might just grow some brass ones next week if the snow holds, go for it & play dumb!!

btw, about 6" at my house now (about 80 feet lower that rev414's place) & still dumping.

I know you can get in there from up top, I just want to find something closer. I'm used to a 4-5 min drive to go ride & it hurts looking at the snow without being able to ride on it.
