2008 M8 - Silencer can

Is the addition of a lightweight silencer by itself a NOTICEABLE change - either from the weight or HP perspective? Will this change cause any issues with reliability? Is it worth the $$ if I don't plan any more mods? If so, which do you recommend? Thanks

Noticable change in weight for sure....No hp gain...Buy the Speedwerxs ceramic coated silencer...Good finish and fit...Sounds really good, not too loud.

hps don't go any other way. I have that on both my modded sled and Stock.. Oh and good luck for never buying more mods. That's what I thought last year..

When my M8 was new, before being soaked with residual two-stroke oil, the factory can weighed 12 lbs., 6.8 oz.

Be wary of aftermarket companies that say their can saves big pounds (some say 13 on a M8 <--um...sure...). Actually weigh the new one yourself before repeating marketing propoganda off their website.

My vote is for HPS. I hated my sled sounding like a f***ing moped. Now it sounds great, looks great and is considerably lighter. Win - win situation if you ask me.

Ceramic coated Super Q. Excellent quality, light, and sounds great. :D Did not hurt performance or reliabilty, good weight savings.

I liked my super q and now i have an slp pipe setup, the slp is good too. The super q was a little bit lighter and louder though. Just get the slp pipe setup and skip the can.

08 M8 can anybody running speedwerx?

Just wondering on any feed back on speedwerx can i am running there pipe and y pipe with no complaints just wondering how loud or any problems thanks

Just put the whole speedwerx package on my 09 m8. There is a little more bark to it but not much. I havn't ridden it yet just started it my garage w/ the track up. If you want it loud then I would look for something else. It has just enough bark for me. Loud sled sound awesome till you ride them all day IMO.

Do not run the Speedwerx Can....Been there, done that on 08 M8...It results in a loss of power...Period....Speedwerx Can fabrication is awful...Hard to believe that they would put their name on it...

I have Speedwerks y-pipe and single pipe with a Jams can and BDX intake....
it seems to be the perfect combination....Loud as heck but very very snappy. Jaws can is lighter, ceramic coating is flawless and the fit is 100% perfect.

Just my 2 cents

How do you know it was a loss of HP? I ran a Speedwerx Ys, Pipes, and Cans on my 07 M8 and also on my 09 M8 before switching to SLP's performance kit. I was very impressed with the Speedwerx can. Speedwerx has dyno tuning capabilites and is not going to put their name on a product that loses HP.

You say your "Jams" (Jaws?) can is "loud as heck". Sorry to sound rude or offensive, but LOUD SUCKS. Thanks for giving the environmentalists another bullet to use in their gun against us.

To the OP: the SW can is a few pounds lighter than stock and is slightly louder but not much. It definately has a different sound when at full throttle. I highly doubt the can itself adds any extra HP, but I highly doubt the Jaws can does either. You should read RK Tek's exhaust explaination on his web site some time. He explains how the can affects things HP wise.

Hello thanks for the input ya i am not a fan of loud cans just looking to shed a few pounds they say 4 pounds for there can HP they say 2.5 but doesnt matter as long as i am not loosing.I will do some reading on the other sites thanks
