2008 m-8 fuel gauge removal??

What do you use to remove the fuel gauge?? I take it unthreads but what do you hold it with??
Wife said her gauge was going crazy and in closer inspection I found the float ,floating around the tank..

it's just set in with an o ring a flat tip screwdriver and pry it out if its cold out pore hot water over it

Used a brake drum tool last week on mine - Pried up around the edges and it popped right out.
