2008 iq 600r to 800 mod

i have a 08 iq 600r and am looking at the bikeman 800 kit. what would be better to buy a stock new 800 out of a wrecked sled or get 800 cylinders put on. and what is the different between the liberty 800 and the new 800. and with the 08 iq 600r carbs why does the cfi port have to be welded to run 800 cylinders, thanks

From the write up I read, the cylinder's injector hole just needs to be plugged.

I did it and so far so good. The engine work is pretty minor, Bikeman can do everything. I had Indy Dan do my case work and make the plugs for the CFI port. I also oil injected the sled. All in all it has been a time consuming project as I re-plumbed the cooling system like an 09 racer, added oil injection, added an aux. rear cooler, Wilchild gas rack, etc. The pipe mod they do fits well. I can't wait to ride it!

Stock 800 cylinders work well on the 600 case. Dmax makes a nice set of twins for this exact application. www.dmax.ca
