2007 Switchback Instrument cluster fades at idle

Have 2 friends whose instrument cluster is fading (at motor idle) to the point that it goes black. Once you give it a bit of throttle it comes back and is fine when riding it. Does anyone know what is causing this? Both are 2007 IQ/Switchback.

My '07 did this somewhat to where it would blink on and off. Turned out to be the wire to the exhaust valve solenoid was touching the exhaust and grounding out.

What do they idle at? Mine would do that and it was because it would only idle at 1000 RPM.
