2007 Phazer engine seized

[ QUOTE ] Let me start this off with a preface that this is the oddest turn of events I have witnessed.

I traded in my 07 Summit Adrenaline for a XP X this season. Got a absolutelty awesome deal through Renegade Sports in Logan Utah on the X so the 2500 loss was easy to justify. Since haveing this sled all I have done is add an HPS can, remove all the foam, and also the plastic from the clutch belt cover and tool kit. I now have about 600 miles on my sled, (live in Timberlakes Utah and can ride from my front door daily), and have yet to have one issue I have read about on the forum, Belt is flawless clutches run hot, but not insane hot, and hand warmers work like a champ. So I guess either I got a good sled or the dealer I bought it from is the bomb when coming to setting up new sleds.

Now here is the kicker, I just bought the future crawlspace liver a new sled for her birthday. It was an 07 Yamaha Phazer mountain lite. Sled has been awesome for her since she is so little 5' 3" and 105lbs. Sled was bought with 126 milles on it locally and taken to the Yami boys I trust in Heber as soon as we bought it to be serviced and looked over. Sled has been taken out three maybe 4 times and now has 250 miles on it. While out today without any warning lights ,noises, or anything the motor just seized had to remove the belt to even tow the sled out since the clutch would not even turn by hand. Checked all fluids, oil full, coolant full, and everything appeared to be normal. Found out tonight we are one month out of warranty, (Yami one gives one year), and not sure if the insurance will cover it.

The hummor here is that the Yami guys in Heber raz me all the time about being a doo guy with all the problems the sleds supposively have and that Yami's are so reliable. I take my dirt bikes to these guys all the time and they are hands down the most honest group of guys in my area. Am I the only one who now thinks the Yami peeps that chime in all the time have been drinking the kool aid, and their product is just as flawed? [ End of quote ]

So this is what I found,,,tell me how this is different,it didn't take you very bloody long to jump on the bash wagon, you didn't even give the dealer or Yamaha a chance to say if they would fix it,and now that they are going to stand behind the product,I don't see any where in this post where you give them credit. How well has BRP stood behind you to fix their sh!t,they keep making it and you buying it.This is the post I read and this the one I responded to,if you want to give credit then fix it on this one.

Just telling it like it was, you cannot tell me that you would be any less subjective after having to tow a sled with 250 miles on it out 30 miles....... Furthermore, I have yet to have any problems with any of my doo's so I have no experience there.

Can you show me where once I jumped on any bash wagaon? All I said is that all the Yami peeps kept telling me to buy a Yami for reliability and I did just that, but it goes to show that Yami is just as flawed as any other manufacturer out there and EVERYONE has cases of failure.

Did you go on to read further in the thread? Where I defended the performance of the phazer from the Doo nay sayer crowd.....didnt think so!

Keep the man made windex dripping on your tounge there window licker.:D

Just to make my point more concrete, here is what I said on Doo talk in reference to the above mentioned statement.

Other guys post:
i guy i know has a cat ski outfit and bought a new phazer last year he hates it it went through 2 clutches and broke the chain case a couple times he said the handling sucks he's owned the old style phasers and claims these newer ones aren't phazers their heavy
ill handling and if you want to get them to a top of a mountain you have to pull them up

My Resoponse;
Well I can attest that this guy must tipping back on grandpas cough suryp too much instead of riding.....I bought the sled for my girl but have taken in out in my neck of the woods in 4' of fresh powder and the thing absolutely amazes me with its ability for a 500cc sled. Even with my fat &#@ on it I cant get the thing stuck and it boondocks like a champ. I would have to say that for its size and class it pretty much is the best mountain sled out there. I absolutely know it would ride circles around the freestyle or 550 fans. Maybe this is why is won sled of the year last year?

Well thats what customer satisfaction is all about!!! For Yamaha to warrenty the engine after the warrenty was gone means alot to me. Hats off to your dealer, I cant help but think that they went to bat for you. Dino

I would agree whole hearted. The Yami guys in Heber at Plaza have always been awesome to me any everyone I have refered to them. They go the extra mile for everyone, not just their loyal customers.

Guess who still hasnt seen the sled back repaired......Ding! Ding! Ding! we have a winner. Three of the best weekends I have seen in years gone and the misses is sitting on the couch getting heated when she is left to go riding.

Starting to get a bad taste in the mouth now......Oh by the way almost 1000 miles on the XP Doo this year......

Maybe you should go buy the wife an XP. You buy a sled from "someone" and it breaks. The local Yammy shop goes to bat for you and Yamaha picks up the tab(after warranty expires). And you whine about missing some riding? I hope your Doo never quits on you. BRP doesn't have a warranty program!!!

BRP doesnt have a warranty program? Huh I could be mistaken but when I blew a motor last year on the new 800R, BRP had a entire new motor in my sled in a week. Sorry to burst your bubble but the warranty on my BRP is two years and covers secondary owners. So Why wouldnt Yami cover a sled with 200 miles on it without having to have a dealer go to bat, as you said.

Furthermore, I have a buddy that twisted his tunnel on his Doo and it took two weeks to completely rebuild the sled. I am just a little frusterated, and why wouldnt I be, they have ordered parts fixed things, ordered more parts, and fixed again, but guess what...... over three weeks later we are on the third fix not sure if this is it again.

Crawl, check your fine print, just read a post, in the doo 4m, and guy was saying 2nd year, didn't cover labor, or something to that effect.

On the original subject, did the Phazer make any noises? I'm wondering if it gave you any hint, that there was a problem.

You are right on that one, BRP is good with the fine print...... About the Phazer ...no noises or nothing it was going fine and just came to a hault. It was really weird I was sure the kill switch had just been accidentally hit. Oh well, I am sure it will be a great sled once fixed, cause she really liked it and I also thought it was a blast. Just hate to be told it will be one week, and then another and another......

I'm going to find out how my Yami dealer will treat me in the morning. Dealt with this dealer for the past 20years, but switched over to BRP in '97. Bought my first Yami sled since '95 this fall, Nytro, installed MCX on it in Nov., has 800km on it with no issues till dropped an exhaust valve on the mag side two nites ago. Don't seem to have done any damage to the piston from what I can see from up top, but not sure what would cause it. Supposed to be picking up new Phaser for wife in the am, but not much luck with my first 4 stroke experience. Is it time already to go back to BRP?. Also thought about picking up a turbo phaser, but not sure if it is going to be reliable enough for no warranty. Last week happy, this week not so much

Happy....Unhappy

Thats how it is for me also???when the sleds run life is good:p when they dont I not so happy, warrenty or not:( Dino
