My son's wife's 2007 Phazer Mountain Lite just had the engine seize up. 250 mile on it and it was at the local dealer where it had it's first annual service (oil change, check over) two weeks ago.

Any one have any ideas?

i was thinking the same thing.

Oil was full and clean, full of coolant, no warning lights, no noises, no warning what-so-ever that there was any sort of problem. Just seized up.

Not under warranty as it is an 07 even though it only has 200 miles. Kind on a sad deal as the "kids" just got the sled for Christmas and will have a tough time coming up with the cost of repairs. :(

I have heard of the starter siezing and therefore siezing the motor. Yami replaced the starter and there was no damage to the motor. Get on TY's site and start seaching, there is a thread on this... Good luck!

I would talk to your dealer and they should contact yamaha directly, im betting they will cover it, when i had my 2002 viper a while back my center piston skirt cracked and caused a whole mess, it was out of warranty by 2 months and yamaha covered it. Its worth a try.

Thanks

Hope you all are right that Yami will take care of us........Real bummer to have her sled go down this soon. The funny thing is that the Yami boys in Heber raz me all the time about being a doo guy and how bad the new XP is this year. My XP has almost 700 miles on it and has been flawless.

I will have to bite my tounge to not give them some flack tomorrow about the Yami "reliability" , until my sled is fixed :)

I trust the Yami boys in Heber, since they have a sister store in the the Provo area and trailer my KTM's down the canyon for me all summer for service and repairs for free.

I am sure the problem has nothing to do with them, and something mechanical that went wacko.

yes 4strokes dont generally just seize up usually start making allot of noise unless it overheated allot.hope it works out for you yammi should step up or the dealer.

Well here is the verdict..... it was the nut on the end of the balance shaft that came unthreaded and bounced around in there to cause some serious chaos and seized er up.

But the best part is that Yamaha has stepped up to pay the ENTIRE bill of the engine rebuild....lets just hope that my peeps in Heber build it good. Should be back and running bywednesday of the following week.

Now I am impressed with Yami!!!

[ QUOTE ] Let me start this off with a preface that this is the oddest turn of events I have witnessed.

I traded in my 07 Summit Adrenaline for a XP X this season. Got a absolutelty awesome deal through Renegade Sports in Logan Utah on the X so the 2500 loss was easy to justify. Since haveing this sled all I have done is add an HPS can, remove all the foam, and also the plastic from the clutch belt cover and tool kit. I now have about 600 miles on my sled, (live in Timberlakes Utah and can ride from my front door daily), and have yet to have one issue I have read about on the forum, Belt is flawless clutches run hot, but not insane hot, and hand warmers work like a champ. So I guess either I got a good sled or the dealer I bought it from is the bomb when coming to setting up new sleds.

Now here is the kicker, I just bought the future crawlspace liver a new sled for her birthday. It was an 07 Yamaha Phazer mountain lite. Sled has been awesome for her since she is so little 5' 3" and 105lbs. Sled was bought with 126 milles on it locally and taken to the Yami boys I trust in Heber as soon as we bought it to be serviced and looked over. Sled has been taken out three maybe 4 times and now has 250 miles on it. While out today without any warning lights ,noises, or anything the motor just seized had to remove the belt to even tow the sled out since the clutch would not even turn by hand. Checked all fluids, oil full, coolant full, and everything appeared to be normal. Found out tonight we are one month out of warranty, (Yami one gives one year), and not sure if the insurance will cover it.

The hummor here is that the Yami guys in Heber raz me all the time about being a doo guy with all the problems the sleds supposively have and that Yami's are so reliable. I take my dirt bikes to these guys all the time and they are hands down the most honest group of guys in my area. Am I the only one who now thinks the Yami peeps that chime in all the time have been drinking the kool aid, and their product is just as flawed? [ End of quote ]

So this is what I found,,,tell me how this is different,it didn't take you very bloody long to jump on the bash wagon, you didn't even give the dealer or Yamaha a chance to say if they would fix it,and now that they are going to stand behind the product,I don't see any where in this post where you give them credit. How well has BRP stood behind you to fix their sh!t,they keep making it and you buying it.This is the post I read and this the one I responded to,if you want to give credit then fix it on this one.

Well thats what customer satisfaction is all about!!! For Yamaha to warrenty the engine after the warrenty was gone means alot to me. Hats off to your dealer, I cant help but think that they went to bat for you. Dino
