2007 m 1000 blown for second time 45 minutes after rebuild

Just my 02 but when putting that engine or any engine back together measuring all tolerances is so important, now you are back to square one i would also think that maybe some debris was leftover, but without seeing the engine during initial teardown its hard to say. The initial teardown is where the problem should have been determined as well as the symtoms leading up to the burndown, i would say when you take it apart this time pull it right apart and examine and measure everything that needs it check crank runout and replace all parts and engine seals that are required during a complete rebuild and pay close attention when pulling it apart this time and you may find your problem.

just about finished rebuild

i was wondering if i should warm it up and let it over heat like that on the very first run or just let it run for 15 minutes to seat the rings let it cool and then do the overheat run a couple times???????????

thanks for all of your information it was a big help!!!!!!!!

Now if the darn thing burns down don't blame me.

But if it was mine I would put it on a track stand. Start the sled run it just fast enough to keep the clutches engaged. Watch the temp light and run it until the temp light comes on. Run it another 30 seconds to a minute. Shut it down and let it cool completely. Then for good measure do it one more time.

Now remember during this to make sure your rear heat exchanger is getting hot and you keep the water level up.

Good luck.
