Is it normal for the secondary clutch in 2007 to make more clunking noises than the later years do? It does it when riding forward - not just in shifting from reverse to forward. This one makes more noise than our 2010's so I was wondering if he should pull the helix for inspection in case it is a roller problem or wear in the helix. Chain tension is not the cause.

Have you ever tore down your clutches for regular maintenance like cleaning, inspecting, replace springs, weights etc? I have my springs and weights changed at least every other season (I don't put on near the miles as some of the guys on here) just to get fresh engagement and back shifting.

This isn't my sled but I did all the cleaning and maintenance last summer on his primary including shimming the spider buttons for proper clearance. I didn't do anything with the secondary though and was just wondering if that particular secondary was noisier than later years. I don't want to be chasing something that turns out to be normal for that year.

My '14 sled clunks too I think I'll put a stiffer/heavier spring in driven clutch so shifts/downshifts are faster.

Takes longer to write/read this thread than to pull the secondary apart and inject. Might do a search on the secondary and see if you want to add some delrin washers while you have it apart. Good luck. EW
