2007-2008 BD Race Gas M1000 Updates update

I bought a very clean 2008 M1000 (witch is the same as an 2007) with the Boondockers Race gas turbo on it with no Boondockers up dates done to it.
I took it out for a very short ride at rabbit ears to get a baseline on its set up.
I would rate it 6.5 out of 10 as it is right now. It was set up to run on 110 race gas but it has LL100 in it. It ran bad on the bottem end, and a bad lean bog when you hamer the gas and it pulled like a pump gas turbo M8 with about 6lbs of boost on the top end. (and boost turned all the way down on the M1000)
All updates will be cost less then $1000 and thats with no oil tank, smaller inercooler and EBC updates.
Heres a list of updates that myself and boondockers came up with.
High out put in tank fuel pump and take the stock in tank and in line pumps off it, deleting the pop of valve from the inercooler, (dont need one if running the boost under 15lbs) air temperature sensor update into the inercooler (ADA), wire harnes update to air box injectors, Wastegate Controller, Doondocker box reflash, with just a wide band o2 sensor gage for engine monitoring. The clutching will be the last thing I deal with.
Right now it has a 4 tower drive clutch on it.
I think this will bring the sled to a nice 9 out of 10.

UPDATE.
I took the sled out and it ran like CRAP! I would rate it 1 out of 10.
I had the boost turned all the way down and it would push 4.3 LBS. of boost.
I played with my BD box for an hour and no change in the way it ran. O2 sensor was always in the ball park (between 11 and 14) but would never turn over 6,000 RPMs so I turned up the boost and it ran better and better but no real change with palying with the BD box again so I turned up the ajustable boost actuator all the way up and then it would run on top end but mid range more then sucked, took 30+ yards to get it to go. and then it would turn 7,200+RPMs and it would fly and go like a bat out of hell (way faster then a good running pump gas turbo M8)
but if i let off the gas it will fall on its face and game over for that hill climb.
Im thinking about getting a sticker that says BOG CITY for it!
If you like a sled that runs like an old indy 650 this is the sled for you!

My update for my 08 Boondocker Race gas 1000 kit after trying what BD said and using their ADA box was to get rid of most of BDs parts and install better fuel control (attitude box), lose the intercooler, install 4 injector throttle bodies, cut the head squish, install anybodys turbo clutching but theirs, keep the blowoff valve with a lighter spring so it opens at idle and have fun. Essentilally I paid 6000 for a turbo, oil tank and exhaust system and a box of useless parts that were sent out for the customer to do their R&D. I have converted and helped convert many of these POS kits so these sleds are rideable.

I was about to look up this old thread, So after the results have you called BD to see what they say, maybe you should call MMotorsports he seems to be confident in making these kits work.

I called BD today and I got new #s form one of the shop sleds. I put them into map #4 and will try that. I did some more reading on the BD box and that will help me more when im changing things. Dont get me wrong. I understand that things can be fixed to make it run right and when im going over the top of a Mtn. faster then i can think im having a lot of fun and I got the sled set up so i could drive it around from place to place but like i wrote before the mid range is so bad right now that most people would have just parked the sled but I wanted to ride it and I had a fun weekend over all.

So are you running a ADA or EBC controller, or whatever, seems your list evolved over time. Is your kit comparable to other kits or is it a bastard kit. Wonder if your boost fuel is coming in to soon.

It has the ADA. (air density advantage) and no i dont have a EBC. and no its not a bastard kit :) Its all Boondockers updates for fueling the sled. I think you are very right about the boost fuel coming on too soon.

I don't have a clue on the ADA, But if I remember right MM said he thought the ADA was what his costumers liked the best. Do those have a low and high boost setting. I am curious, if you can make this thing go for the money maybe it would be worth picking up the one I know about. Does the new fuel system use a 1:1 regulator or something to that effect.

My BD box has low and high boost settings and i added a new map with those setings. The fuel system is very nice and clean. On a 2008 m1000 i took the stock fuel pump out of the tank and put a high out put one in its place and then pressed a cap over the stock perssure reg inside the gas tank to up the pressure then added a perssure line from the that cap that goes out to a fitting in my inercooler. I have the stock fuel line coming out of the gas tank and i T-ed off that to the two injectors in the air box. i have 45 PSI PSI fuel pressure at 2,000 RPMs and that will go up as boost goes up because the presure in the inercooler pushes on the fuel persure reg. I was told that with 10 lbs boost i will gain 10 more psi of fuel pressure. so about 55 PSI fuel pressure at 10 LBS of boost.

That would make it a 1:1, but I'm not sure I trust it, It is a rather simple way to make it work, but who is to say the reg spring adjusts accurately with each lb of boost. I guess it shouldn't matter because you will be tuning it to what ever F/P it is. Another ?? The box has hi, low boost setting, does it also have setting as to when the other injectors come in. or is low 2 injectors and hi 4 injectors. Which could make it a b1atch, to fine tune.

yes it has a cross over setting and my sled is set at 8 lbs of boost right now.
one of my maps i had it set at 4 lbs of boost but it still ran bad in the mid range. You can set the secondary injector intensity as they come on so it wont ram a bunch of fuel all at once. The guys at boondocker did help me a lot on the phone. just talking about it helped me understand what was going on. I did read the BD box info 4 time and theres 19 pages of info to take in and some of it was a little hard to understand but once i had some seat time it all came to me very well.

it takes some thinking to figure it out thats for sure. Keep us posted. I know if mine (although different) is just barely adding to much when the boost kicks in it falls on its face.

I cant turn my fuel pressure down from where its at but that make since that over 38 would make the mid range so rich that playing with the BD box made no difference.
my starting fuel pressure for mine is at 38#. any higher and i would have problems in the mid range as well.

I was going to say the same thing. My OVS kit is at 40 psi and I have to adjust my fuel pressure down. I have to take my settings way lower then what they suggest. Also runs so fat when I first start it it barlley run

The BD kit doesn't need the lower F/P because you can remove fuel with the bd box unlike the gen I attitude boxes,

not sure if the m1 tunes similar to the m8 but check your OS and CR #'s in supertuner mode and see when the auxiliary injectors are coming on could possibly be too soon from old settings and you might be loading up with too much fuel before the turbo has spooled up enough to use it?? that was the issue i was having with my 07 M8 BD RG turbo...if you call boondocker speak with junior or jarred only the others havent been helpful really when it comes to results...good luck
