2006 Ski-doo 800R

Hey Ski-dooers-
I'm looking into buying an 2006 800R with a 159" and an X package. I have always owned Polaris, so what are the things that I should be looking for before I make the purchase of a Ski-doo? Also what would a good price on a sled like this be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

06 was the P-Tek engine. I belive it is the same as the 800HO except the way the rave valves are activated.

06 was the best REV of them all. 06 had 2.3 track instead of the 2.0 in 05 and the 07 had the Lite track that most everyone disliked.

Flaking ring problem fixed in 06.

New unproven engine in 07, quite a few crank problems that year.

Go for it.

$5000-$5500

Look to make sure both ski's are even (one not farther back than the other)
Look under the engine at the alumium belly for pulled rivits and bent aluminum.
Both indicators of a bend NUN.

Solid sled. I still run mine.

-Check the ECM for corrosion. H20 runs off the headlights and right into the box. Either gotta seal it up or relocate the ECM

-Check the slop in the steering and top A-arms. There are zerks under the pipe that are often over looked. Top A-arm bushings seem to pound out earlier than the rest. Also the tie rods.

-Feel the bulkhead behind/under the primary clutch. common place for a bend. On the other side it will bend where the can hangs off the bulkhead.

-Engines are solid. Compression should be 150-155. Mine was 155 with 1600 miles stock engine, 3000ft.

-Coolant tanks warp after awhile and leak out of the cap.

Wrong Motor and More Info on Sled

I was mistaken. The sled that I was looking at has the P-tek motor (like I said I'm new to Ski-Doo's) not the 800R. Is the Ski-Doo secondary roller clutch like the team secondary that is found on the Polaris? Sled already has an HPS can and vents on the clutch side as well as snow eliminators on the running boards. It also has a new top end as well as the aluminum X package. With all of this and if it is in decent shape, should it still be in the 5000 to 5500 range? Thanks again! Anything else I should do or look for before making the purchase?

P.S. How is the PowderMax track compare to other tracks?

06

roller secondary and 2.3 tracks only came on the x packages in 06 the adrenalines had buttin clutches and 2 inch tracks. Also, check the condition of the coolers, the guy who had mine before me ran the track really loose and the extra quarter inch of track can damage the coolers. I also second the ecu conection and the fact that 06 was the best year ever. good luck
