2006 engine in a 2005 chassis

I am looking for a new/rebuilt engine for a 2005 but cant find on for the life of me, lots of 06 engines for sale. Is there any issues with putting a 2006 engine in my 2005 chassis? I seem to recall something to do with the cylinders having/not having oil injectors?

i have looked into this deep as well, and its just not worth attempting...

the 06 motor has the 4 fuel injectors..which if layed in the 05 chassis, would come in contact with the oil tank, steering column...there is no drop it chances of it working w/o cut/modifying something..

you are by far better of putting the 05 motor in your chassis..the 05 will drop in the 06 chassis with no issues...

do you not have a motor at all?? or do you have a blown one??

i see, there is another threas on the same wrecked sled, lol...

i talked to BiggDawg on here, he did the 06 motor to 05 chassis...and he is a 20+year mechainc, fabricater, and he advised me NOT to mess with it...he had to modify the steering post, oil tank to get it even sit in the chassis...but now he is just replacing his bulkhead to an 06 so its mounted correctly and nothing is modified anymore...

i have seen a few 05 motors for sale...but i bet you dont want to pay shipping from the US to canada...is that why?

To be honest I haven't looked south of the border so I'm not sure what shipping would be. Is there much involved in replacing the bulk head? I talked to the guy with the wrecked 06 and he said the bulk head might be tweaked a bit... depending on how badly its "tweaked" could I just replace mine with his?

i would see what you can come up with for an 05 motor in the US...the motor weighs about 100lbs to you can get an idea of the shipping weight of it..

your best bet would be to contact IndyDan from the forum and see if he has any motor for you...he might be able to help you out with that...your better off calling him then email/pm as he is very busy this time of year..

i would not use that tweaked bulkhead at all...unless you have extensive knowledge in it...if you have any tweaking you could throw your clutch alignment off and blow belts non-stop and eventually you will blow your crank...

theres some trimming of the driveshaft holes but the rest are some new holes for rivots here and there, and then you need the 06 steering hoop,06 steering column, 06 rider select system, 06 oil tank, coolant bottle, jackshaft, chaincase, 06 ECU and injector wiring harness to use with the 06 bulkhead

Oh wow! thats a lot more work than I'm willing to get into with my limited knowledge of these sleds. I will definitly give Indy Dan a call and see what he can do for me

A couple years ago I bought a 900 engine from ebay, got it shipped from NY to western Canada for about $120 if I remember correctly....
