2006 600 SDI HO Dies when put in reverse

I have a 2006 SDI HO (no electric start) that dies when put in reverse, both hot and cold. Sometimes (not often) it will work (maybe three times this weekend). Any suggestions to make it work right?

Thanks

Low Idle

I had an 06' 800 that would do that and I had thought the idle was low any how, so....... after adjusting it up about 200 rpm it cured the problem.
I can't remember what the idle was supposed to be, but I have the service manual (for the 800) in the shop if you need me to look at it, let me know.
Hope this helps.

I'd appreciate that....Thanks!

Also make shure your belt deflection isnt to tight. If the belt is dragging it will bring the rpms down and when you push the reverse button it will die also. Your idle speed should be 1800 rpms.

Doesn't low compression create this running condition as well?? How many miles on it??

Service Manual Specs

I'd appreciate that....Thanks!
Sorry it took a while, I was cooking dinner. :face-icon-small-ton

In the Service manual it shows the 500 and 600 idle speed is 1600 + or - 200Rpm. 1500 for the 800. Let me know if you need any other info from the manual, I can Scan and E-mail pages if you need.

my 1000 did the same thing... turned out to be the wire running to the RER buttom was messed up... it would work somtimes.. and sometimes it would just kill the motor....could be that..

What elevation

I think i read some place that it needs to be recalibrated for high altitude use.

Before you try any more complicated solutions, change out the plugs. Most of the times it is just dirty plugs.
