I bought a 2005 Polaris RMk 900 and the previous owner lost his key, so he hotwired it. I have read that some sleds you just plug the ignition wire back into the ignition switch or what. Any ideas on how to unhotwire the sled. Any information will be helpful thanks!

Depends on how he did it..Most polaris you can remove the key in the run mode and leave it there. Put key in truck,garage etc..
Is the key switch still there?
Did the harness get cut? most probable area is at switch.
He may have bypassed it look for wires doubled on themselves.?
Manual should be in stickies at top of forum look for diagram to help.

Yes the key switch is still there, but he unplugged the wires from the switch. I have followed the wire and can't find any doubled on themselves. The ignition switch has 5 male prongs and the plastic plug that plugs into the ignition switch has 5 female prongs but there are only 4 wires going to the plastic plug.
Just plug the harness back in to the switch, get a new key and you will be all set. I've unplugged mine when I forget my key to move it around the yard. Unplug the harness it will run, plug it back in the engine will stop (W/O a key of course)
The ignition system is on when open. That is why it will run when the plug is unhooked from the switch.
Basically when the plug is put into the switch, and there it is in the off position the system is closed and will not run. When you turn the key or unplug the switch you open the system and it runs.
If you tether it it works the same. Tether on opens the switch and it runs. Tether off closes the switch and will not run.
Kill switch is the same. Down is closed, will not run. Up is open and will run. Unplug the kill switch and it is open, will run.
Also if you need it Brown is a ground. and yellow is hot.
