2004 1M 900 TPS Replacement

1M 900 ran funny (cut out/bog) off and on last year. At the end of the season on a groomed trail it would hardly move itself, it would idle but quit when the throttle was pushed to the bar. Disconnected the TPS and it ran great again. Do I replace the TPS or run without it? What are the pros and cons? Appreciate any information.

replace it! it runs the timing and you need to have the dealer or some with the tps tool to set it for the proper value. or you can make your own tool if you have a good electrical meter.

I would be careful running without it. We forgot to hook it up on one ride, and burned the sled down about half way through the day. Can't figure out why that was the case, but I wouldn't want to run without it.

You can not just get the TPS sensor from Arctic. They want to sell you the whole throttle body. If you need a TPS sensor let me know I have several.

900kingkitty is correct there is a replacement TPS available. They are kind of a pain to set correctly without the TPS adjustment tool so the best thing to do is to take it to the dealer and have them replace it.

Hope this helps Jeff

(04 900 carb) Mine acted up last year, It got some moisture in it. Un hooked it let it dry out for a few days and then filled it with electric grease and hooked it back together. Havent had any trouble since.

Thanks for the input!

Thanks for all the input!
I borrowed the TPS test kit from the dealer. Run the TPS cold and warm, the numbers meet spec and dont change? It could have been moisture. Guess I'll try dielectric grease and run it. Soon as we get enough snow.
