2003 RMK 800 Chaincase Bolt Torque?

Hi,

I'm trying to find the chaincase bolt torque's for the bottom and top gear of a 2003 RMK 800 Vertical Escape. I believe the bottom bolt is 19 ft-lbs. The nut for the top gear I have read as 50 ft-lbs, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Also, are the bolts on the chaincase cover supposed to be torqued or just put them on so you don't break the bolt?

Thanks!

Your numbers on the torque values are right. Make sure you loctite the bottom bolt, I use the red stuff, and clean the bottom hole with carb cleaner then blow it out or let it dry before installing otherwise the loctite won't hold.

On the cover I generally just use a 1/4 drive air ratchet. If doing them by hand you want them snug but be careful not to strip the holes. You also don't want to crush the o-ring seal. I like to tighten them in a criss cross pattern as well.

Something else to consider here is, Polaris recommended to drill and tap the driveshaft for a 3/8 bolt instead of the stock 5/16 bolt. I have seen many broken 5/16 bolts.

I use brake cleaner to clean the hole, it doesn't leave a residue like carb cleaner
