2003 800 summit still a dog on the bottom

I have a 2003 800 ho summit 151" that I posted about awhile back on how it is a real dog and sluggish on the bottom end. I put new boyesen reeds in it, cleaned the carbs and dropped a size on the mains and went up a size on the pilots (20's). Im still having trouble on the bottom end as it is still lazy. Just doesnt seem like it is winding up the rpms as it should be. I am going to put a different spring in the secondary which might help a bit. Any suggestions???

drop your gearing to 19-47, change out both primary and secondary springs, make sure your choke and throttles are adjusted, as well as you oiler. Make sure your oiler cable isn't sticking, and install a spring on the arm if it is. Make sure your plugs are good. Check location of you needle clip and low idle adjustment. That should be enough to keep you busy for a while. Hope that helps and keep us up to date

Does the primary clutch still have the 415 ramps?
What drive belt are you using? If using BRP belts, then minimum 417300391, or ...377. If you are using aftermarket belts, choose one for a 2010 xp 800 summit or newer. The reason I mention that is the replacement belts for the rev summits that are out there have been coming in at 1-7/16" or narrower to which will reveal such rpms issues as you mention. It seems that the drive belts for the xp's I mention there have been coming in at 1-7/16" and wider. One of the widest belts I have seen is the XS821 @ 1.52 inches.

Next question - What is your drive belt deflection tension like?

In early 2003 the summit 800 came to dealers with the black 160/300 secondary spring, I have seen this with my own eyes. The Euro models all got those secondary springs too.
Make sure you have the purple secondary spring installed 225/300 and the swivel washer placed properly ON the spring cover.

drop me an email if you continue to have problems to see if I can recall anything else that can contribute to this bog off bottom end.

This is a ZX chassis sled or not?

Joe seems to be refering to a Rev.

???

Has the primary ever been gone through?
I just noticed that my boys '02 clutch is engaging WAY too early when I unloaded it the other day.
Tired spring / worn ramps?

Have you checked compression?

.

It is a ZX chassis. I havent had the primary apart yet but that is next. I just picked up what I believe is a 225/300 purple spring. I will post when I get it pulled apart. Thanks for the replies so far

Hello, yes I was referring to the rev however both the mxz and rev 800 sled for 2003 both have TRA3 primary with 415 ramps and both show 417126687-Release Spring (black). Summit 600 HO. Summit 800 HO, however I have seen customers open up the secondary and observe a solid purple color secondary spring to me which from what I know the last year that one was made was 2002. 2003, was black in color w/2 milky purple stripes on it. #414978300

But the belt that you mentioned is REV AFAIK.

He should be running the Doo 127 belt.
I have been VERY impressed with that belt.
Too bad it's made in J A Pan.... :brokenheart:
