Broke the water pump/ oil pump belt last ride out, over heated and went into DET. Replaced belt and ran motor for bout 15 min and started to hear a metallic hammering noise, shut off motor and could kind of hear the noise rolling the crank back and forth. Pulled spark plugs and rolled crank, really couldnt hear any thing out of the ordinary, I then plugged each spark plug hole with my finger and when the pto side piston get to the top and you work the crank back and forth you can hear the metallic noise, release compression and it seems to go away. I do not feel any excessive play between the piston moving and the crank when you rock the motor back and forth. My first thought was maybe a rod bearing but with out feeling any play between piston and crank is it possible that it is a crank bearing? Any thoughts? I realize I have to tear engine apart but just want to prepare myself. Thanks.
