2003.5 900 PTO drive shaft bearing ?

I have a 2003.5 1m 900 and just lost the PTO bearing on the drive shaft. What is the easiest way to replace this? Do I need to pull the suspension, or can I just loosen the track? Any tips?

yes you need to pull suspension and the chaincase cover gears and do both pto and other bearing while in there make sure that your chain and gears are ok

i would put hyvo gears in at this time, i broke a 15 wide chain with 700 miles on it.......:(

ive changed a few of these and i found the easiest way is to loosen the track and take the case off and slide the shaft out just far enough but not all the way

Make sure the lower "arm" on the rear shock doesn't get flipped over if you pull the skid. This happened to me when I replaced this bearing. Other than that it was pretty easy... just a PITA to get the shaft back in with the track hanging on it.
