2002 ZX Poor Milage

Posting for a friend. He has a 2002 ZX Summit 800. Running a 151 track. The sled has new HO jugs, HO heads, Wiseco race pistons. Running stock carbs, and stock pipe with rubble can.

My question is, we always have to head home early because he is low on gas. A full tank gets him around 40 miles. My other friend has a 03 with the same stuff in it and he is between 1/4 and 1/2, riding the same (hills, speed, amount, ect)

Anything my friend can do to get better milage? Sled runs great, plugs look nice and golden, piston wash looks good. He is running the stock jets 520n I think. They seem to be something special for this year.

Obiously he doesnt want to blow it up, or pour a bunch of money in it, but it would be nice that he doesnt have to carry an extra 5 gal of gas for a day ride.

With stock jugs and RKT head and drop-in pistons I run 470 or 480 jets.

Also go to the 2000.5 800 (Summit?/MXZ?) needle. You can find it on the fiche'.

How that set-up will work on your buddies combination is hard to say, but I went from 7mpg to 10 when on the trail (only safe place to make any real comparisons)

I tried 460's once, and after a real long uphill pull I checked the plugs and they were too light for my liking.
